Because I don't think most people can decrypt my super-secret cipher, I'm going to have to translate my last post:

You get double points for pointing out everyone's lack of effort on their second video, because the whether it's the first, second, tenth, or Nth video is certainly not an arbitrary thing to pick out and dump all over in concerns to the amount of hours put in.

You also get a gold star for subtly being able to get this pressing question off of your chest with an innocuous post in a legitimate topic, rather than having to start your own topic for the express purpose of pumping your own ego.

I think from start to finish it took me about 2 months to make. Had to get a source I could capture and use properly and then I could really only edit at night while my room mate slept. So yeah...

I'm pretty sure I started my 3rd video while I was working on the 2nd. That vid took over 6 months to make. Go college ^^

Tough cookies. Aside from the obvious comments one can make about the stellar attention to staying on topic around here...

I am always impressed by people who can make AMVs they're happy with in a short amount of time because I can't do it. I consider myself quite a pathetic example of an AMV hobbyist as a result, however I am proud of the fact that I actually succeeded in making an AMV, despite how long it took me. I don't think time is a factor AT ALL as long as you're OK with what you end up with. If I could make an AMV I was happy with in a short period of time, I'd be equally as pleased as if I'd labored over it for a long time. MORE pleased, actually...

I never made a second, and my first was not even an AMV. It was kind of an AMV music video in that my source was not anime but AMVs.

It was a class project for my video editing class, took me a couple-few days of class time and a few hours free time. I made it on a G4 and though it was only a minute long, it was a 400MB monster (my teacher didn't know from compression.

It has been lost to time, and it brings up mixed feelings when i think about it. It's too late for me to start making AMVs now, but I'll always love it as an artform.

So in answer to the question 5 years and counting, maybe someday I'll make it...
God, waste not an angel on me.

yep, I've never equated time spent to effort. Especially when your out (or reasonably so) of your learners diapers. BUT usually if you just throw an amv together that's probably because you spent an unusual amount of time planning, white boarding it out and in anticipation of doing that Idea. I don't pay attention to editing time any more.

BUT! I must say, my first amv took like 4 months, second only 1 week cuz I didn't have an internet connection lol (highly suggest that... you know, if your a schmuck like me -_-) and my third I REALLY tried (it was my first with actual BOUGHT dvd/ audio cd footage and first with lossless codecs) this is where I got serious, and that took some time as in hundreds of hours. I recently, as in just a few days ago, got a comment from a CERTAIN SOMEBODY (a fan that scours all of my videos so this really struck a chord) that after 6+ years of amvs it's my THIRD amv, from my FIRST year, that she thinks is my BEST one!

Anyway after that one serious amv I did one more 'serious' one that I spent a TON of time on THAN I figured 'why the hell am I doing this??' and I don't take them so seriously now. The average amv (unless I'm REALLY having fun with it, like with Angel's Anthem) for me takes like 10 (ok maybe 20 depending if I have a whole series or just a movie etc. to work with...) hours. I just wanna get these ideas out, like someone said, if I don't, after 6+ years it has become evident to me, that even the most OBVIOUS combinations will simply never see the light of day.

Bottom line, I like my AMVs more now, other ppl might say I put in more effort beforehand, but I don't think so. I like my old AMVs as well though...

I finished it in a few months mostly because I was still in college and did not want to rush though it. I like to take my time on things or I tend to get over excited and screw something up...

I also did not know how to use AMVapp at all at that point so it was frustrating enough just compressing the stupid thing...

I was on a laptop, with no internetz and I had a few disks with random subtitled clips.

It look me about 3 hours to finish my second project. =_=

Hell, about my first 15 or more had basically no effort, me sticking in random footage with music, and taking less than 5 hours.

Yay me. I r 1337
