About the lack of an edit button.

Post by bobbias » Sat Nov 24, 2007 2:30 am

I've been wondering for a while (without seeing any threads asking explicitly why there isn't one) why you guys don't have an edit button. In my experience, those things are pretty damned useful.

there are edit buttons in certain forums that need it, such as the announcement and MEP forums.

It´s not bad. First it confused me too.

You have to think more before you post. You can´t just flame someone and afterwards edit it away from the post. I like it.
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:

Well, there are times when editing can be a good thing. If I were to flame someone and realize soon after, on my own, that I was being an ass, I would want to edit that. I would want to edit it more for myself than other people, because I'd feel bad seeing that over and over. I guess I'm not the typical flamer, but still. I make the occasional typo and such and don't notice them until after I post, and I don't like leaving typos in my posts, lol. I sorta understand why you have disabled it, but I won't say I agree with it.

In that case, you may want to consider exercising the necessary self-control to review your post before pressing the Submit button.

I use it when I'm making large posts, and want to make sure everything turned out right... But I'm also used to using quick reply for 90% of my posts.. (And using SMF forums, for that matter. I love their "quote" buttons, because when you're replying you can click "insert quote" and it automatically quotes that post at the end of your text.)

It beats having to click quote, then copy it, go back and quote someone else, and paste for each other person you want to quote.
