Who has more meaning in their songs.
Heart and meaning in their music nowadays? Men or Women? Based on what you've heard lately and what you can come up with in terms of lyrics. I would say women have more heart in songs if you want to determine based on vocals, but which one is higher up there when it comes to lyrics?

millions of others..
I'm talking about something.. possibly worth discussion. I don't care who wrote it. Who is paid to sing it, and are the lyrics meaningful to you?
I honestly thought about posting this in off topic as I find the posters are cooler there, but I felt IT would of been kinda... well off topic there since THERE is a music related forum.
This topic PROMOTES discussion, and not so much random talk and posting lists or whatever.
There I said it.
Like you even know what batman is.

OK, I think I should be more specific or maybe ask more I don't know about..
Like how about this.
For one type of music (punk rock, alternative, rap, pop, hip hop, etc) from what you hear, what lyrics are appealing to you more? I know females that love the male songs and relate to them a lot somehow, I know guys who love the meaning behind the female songs. I know of people who seem to connect more with music of their own gender as well. So yeah, it's a complicated topic, one of which I'd hope to get responses that are not sexist or biased.. but hey, everything is an opinion even if some don't realize it yet. Well this topic idea popped in my head the second I thought of it, so really no thought was put in it. So batman is fine.. it's not like batman is in the off topic forums.. -_-
I would say a lot more songs that are male are more personal to me, and the lyrics are also most of the time more appealing to me for the type of music I listen to(soft rock, hard rock, alternative). I listen to other types of music too, but those specific are my feelings. Pop in general, I don't like the males or females. All their lyrics are pretty annoying to me.
There. My cup of tea when it comes to lyrics.

Hey, no need to lock up a thread just because you don't like where it went. It can still recover.
Yea, the title is kinda dumb. As a linguist, I can vouch for the fact that there's no difference between men and women in terms of semantic richness. The notion that men and women speak differently is also not particularly borne out in typical English language, either, and definitely varies among different cultures too.
There's no difference in such a general category otherwise. Singing in popular culture is a wildly individual art. And its perception is likewise very subjective.
As for me though, I have to say, surprisingly I connect poorly to female vocals most of the time. There are some I like; one example of a female artist among my favorites would be Vienna Teng; another would be Inna Zhelannaya. But in large part I do find female singing somewhat... distant and unsettling, which I can't really explain. Most of my favorite singers ARE male. My favorite voice in the past few years, David Sylvian, is definitely male and I still relate to his vocals (and lyrics) far and above anything that a female singer that I know of could throw at me in terms of emotional texture. And no female singer could even try to approach the intensity level of another favourite singer of mine, Yuri Shevchuk (physically, even). But that's purely my personal view. I just relate a lot closer to male voices; they're easier for me to take as "my own" on a much more direct level.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Hey, thanks Oto.
I'm checking out David Sylvian right now on youtube. Sounds pretty cool from the samples I've heard. I was given that this is a lot like those anime vs threads so that's why I felt this may be off topic, I forgot about those vs threads being considered off topic and this could be considered a vs thread. After me making 5 f'in' posts in a row, I was like 'wow, I made this guaranteed lockage material.' Maybe like them good 'ol days though, if this does promote some interesting worthy discussion, maybe the mods could clean it up. I did drop a note in the mod box. I'll just see where things go.
Again thanks again for your input. It's always appreciated.
