Sick of commonly used bands

I did an LP vid, so f'in' what? It kicked ass, an if you wanna get self righteous about it, you can say it balances out by the fact that I was the FIRST person to use Zebrahead, Dio, an' the Decendents in AMVs.

So there. Now quit dissin commonly used music in general. It sounds really freakin lame when you jus' come out an say "Pick something new and good", especially considering that most of the people who say crap like that define 'new' as whatever is gonna be played out in 2 weeks anyway.

An' for the record, even though I've said it before, some song/anime combos need to be done RIGHT, no matta how many times they been done before. Until justice is done to the combo, I say they' fair game.

heh..I've kinda made it a habit to see if a song (not nessicarly the band, but the song) I'm thinking about using has already been done..many times it hasn't.. as my 2 vids show. But if i really like the song, and feel i can make a good AMV with it...I won't hesitate to use it enen if it has been used before.

Heh, that about sums up the argument in my eyes. And just so everyone doesn't think that Tommy is an egotistical bastard (Which he is

jk), I love his Zebrahead - Love Hina video, but his Dio - VHD video was pretty awful. I even told him this once, and he said he thought so too, and was going to redo it. Also, I don't know if I was the first to use it or not, but I was the first to include 311, Jamiroquai and Squarepusher into the database, as well as Guster and Overground (These videos have yet to be made.) I am in no way saying that because I first entered these bands in that my videos are the Supreme insert-band-here video. In fact, I really like my Jamiroquai video, but my 311 and Squarepusher videos I eagerly want to redo.

Count me in on that opinion too. Although for me, I'm mixing up the music, editing, imputing new sounds...so in the end, it's the same song, but different.

Actually, you were not the first to use the Decendants in a video.

That vid was made by Jarvious back in deceember of 2000. All your Decendants vids have a 2001 premiere date listed. I know he does not have a date listed, but trust me, I had that vid in december of 2000.

BTW Jarvious Demachi, whose real name is Jacob, is my room mate

He's downstairs playing GTA Vice City at the moment heh

So yeah.. just thought you might wanna know.

I'm more tired of "random clip to random song" videos or boring concepts (or lack of any concept at all).

A song-to-anime match can still surprise me if it's edited well and intelligently.

Uh, and not that I personally have anything to offer on this front as far as underused artists go (I tend to like/use medium-ly used artists; so far they've been something like 2, 1, and 9 when I added my videos).

Still, I focus more on what the video is trying to say or evoke, if anything at all.

Yup yup! Jacob needs more self confidence. He thinks his vids suck ass

I keep telling him that I laugh my ass off at the food video, and his original Sasami vid isn't THAT bad.. I mean, it's hosted somewhere, that's more than I can say about my stuff. The Sasami vid is on Simperson's site.
