your dream supergroup
we haven't seen one of these threads in quite a while, at least a year anyways. im wondering how all the regulars choices would be different now that previously.
as always the composition of your band can be whoever you want. living or dead, but if you do post someone dead, id like to see what living person you would settle for.
vocals: Ville Laihiala/Mikael Åkerfeldt
guitar1:John Petrucci
guitar2:Matt Moliti
bass:John Myung
drums:Fredrik Andersson

Vocals: Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation) and Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth)
Guitar 1: Daniel Gildenlow
Guitar 2: Michael Romeo (Symphony X)
Bass: Dave Ellefson (ex-Megadeth) or Steve Harris (Iron Maiden)
Drums: Bill Bruford (Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, etc)
Keyboards: Fredrik Hermansson (Pain of Salvation)
That would be a very strange mix, but I want something eclectic.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Well, I have trouble matching people too far across my spectrum of listening material, so I'll just go with the more prog oriented option.
Throw the following people together and I guarantee something weird but cool would come out:
Vocals/Guitar: Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree)
Guitar: Robert Fripp (King Crimson)
Bass: Les Claypool (Primus)
Drums: Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)
Eh?

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Hey, no fair, then I could also list a couple of incarnations of King Crimson as my dream supergroup too!Emong wrote:My dream supergroup already exists. They're called A Perfect Circle

I can say the same thing about Nomeansno, Yes, Primus and Frank Zappa's backing band (Mothers and others).
Otherwise...
Vocals: Mike Patton for both his straight-up singing AND his weird noises (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantomas, Tomahawk)
Guitar/vox: Adrian Belew (discovered by Frank Zappa, later joined King Crimson, much underappreciated solo work)
Guitar: Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta)
Bass/vox: Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, much underappreciated solo work)
Drums/vox: John Wright (drums for Nomeansno, vocalist for NMN's puck rock alter-ego The Hanson Brothers)

Sometimes I just want to pilot a giant robot, spending days that only exist in my head.
