Best guide ever; now if only the people on the tube would read this. I really wish people didn't get so offended when you tell them there video is bad. If someone tells you your video is bad you only have two choices

1. Give up
2. Figure out what's wrong and try to fix it

Whine that the person doesn't understand your masterpiece is not a choice; it's jsut being stupid.

IMO fixing it is being stupid. To me, a finished product (when used as a simple TOY or ENTERTAINMENT DEVICE) IS a finished product. That is not to say I will no learn from that occasion, I will just implament that advise later -_-.

I'm sure this is what you meant though... on second thought I am not so sure and am now shaking with fear lol.

Well to be fair when I said "fix it" I meant two things from that.

1. You are showing them a beta so you are still tweaking with it anyway
2. It's a problem that can be fixed in future AMVs

Not taking your finished product and redoing the whole thing.

OK, I'm gonna do something unusual and quote everyone who (I think) responded to me.
Knowname wrote:oh please, we all know godix is a big ole' teddy bear with his nose stuck in a honey pot ;p.
Yep, with a couple of bees thrown in. :) I was laughing at the comment, hence the LOL mentioned. It is quite difficult for me to come up with stuff like that, so maybe I can learn something from him after all. XD
JaddziaDax wrote:Godix's insults are addictive... once you have gotten one, you want more O.o
Heck yes. I'm more curious to see if I can come up with them myself...
Prodigi wrote: You suck. That's about as polite as yer gonna get.
Filtered. And on a personal note, I really don't like it when people think I've said what I said because I can't handle the comments or something. If I want critical feedback, I'm willing to take it sugar-coated or shit-coated. (Note the exact same points but said differently.) What I want to see if people agree with is "If people really want to help others through feedback, isn't it more appropriate to use polite language?" I'm wondering when someone says "the video fucking sucks" are they really trying to be helpful. I guess 'the more detailed, the more helpful', but I want to know if others think 'fewer swear words, the more helpful'. I'm trying to figure you people out. Is it acceptable to use swear words here?
JaddziaDax wrote: As for being polite or rude or neutral: You can't expect EVERYONE to think along the same "politeness standards" as you or any one else.
Some people want blunt, in your face observations, other's want sugar coating. People tend to give what they would want. (All flaming aside that is... srsly sometimes, I wonder if it's the guys pmsing around here more than the girls O: lol)
You're right... but honestly, from other sites, this site is the first non-polite site. And again I want to know whether people actually think that being polite is more encouraging, and they just can't be bothered or something, or whether it's insulting to NOT use f-words. I can already see there's a mix of people here.
JaddziaDax wrote: So, the best you can do as the receiver of such a variety of comments is to filter through them yourself, and decide which ones make "valid points" and which ones don't.
Yes, that's very sensible. (and the only way)
Er, I got redirected to amv supersearch... you better not have trojaned me. X3

I must not be a 'good' author than... cuz I don't give a FUCK about improvements, I just wanna get my ideas out. They PAINS me, master!
No, there are actually many types of ppl, ppl like me, who create peices ONLY to amuse themselves, though make them public not INTENDING to amuse anybody else, but just in case it does *_*. And there are those that struggle to be the best. And DON'T try to relate this to dedication! I bet I spent more time on the org than anybody here... except maybe Katie ^_^.
Ha ha! Whatever works for you. :)

If you proofread that article you'd notice the bit about everything being judged equally. Your situation doesn't mean jack shit - everything should be held to the same standard (according to the article at least).
You're right... I think I was getting annoyed because of redundant feedback... but yes, when I want high-quality feedback I'll ask for it. (i.e. improvements in particular areas of it I'm interested in)

the youtube link goes to a Woody Allen movie clip of him standing in line with his girlfriend(?) and there's a guy standing behind him loudly stating his opinion on a movie, and Woody just wants him to shut it.. replace youtube with youtube and you can see it...

the redirection is mostly due to keep people from trying to post video announcements for videos they have not cataloged here.. and to keep drama from being easily linked... the locals know what the word filter is..

another thing, this site is not a "single tight knit little community" there are TONS of tight knit little communities within this site, so you are going to get a huge difference in opinions, tastes, and ideas from people here.

Ha ha! That movie clip was good, thanks.

I'm glad to hear what your thoughts are of this community. Cheers.

see now that's the thing (in my case) we have two types of people, but the rules only cater to one. Some people are trying to get some kind of plan where we can opt out of receiving ops just to say 'LOOK! I DON'T WANT TO IMPROVE ON THIS! Don't bug me!!'. It's like, getting a VERY constructive op on your first video when you'd had 3 years of improvement shown in your recent videos.

Can't you update your description to say what you do and don't want?
I posted a whole lot of do's and don'ts on my DN amvs announcement... and got no response. (now I've got to go to #amv-review XD)

hehe
cool announcement thread :)
Good stuff to look for improvemnts on
ofcourse, you will probably get some people posting your don'ts just for the heck of it >.>
You should use the Opinion Exchange section.
That way you should be able to get more info on what you need to improve.
The AMV announcement section has new threads always popping up and alot of times
threads get pushed down really quickly without geting any responses.
