yeah I know, I realized that I should've phrased that different right after posting (doesn't make much of a difference for the post itself though) :|BasharOfTheAges wrote:Actually, the main audience is people that can't handle criticism and ask that all negative feedback be hidden from public view.Ingow wrote:I mean the main audience of this article is supposed to be all those flamers and stupid people that make the internet suck...

Two things..
I agree with the article. Obviously I like people critiquing my work, and when I get a good response, it makes it all the better.
Two..
I don't think this problem pertains to *most* of the people on this site, and it's mostly the newcomers from either the tube or other AMV communitties that are the problems. I think it's mostly due to the people working as moderaters, keeping the true site "drama" at bay. Then, of course, there is people like Jazziadax, Emong, Kev and others that stop and help people by pointing to guides in a polite (most of the times...) way, not openly calling their stuff crap without explaining it.
I digress.. I just think that this community and good site moderation that makes it so good.

What? Screw you man, why you be dissing me like that? If you can't say something nice then shut the fuck up already.NerdStrudel wrote:You should have linked to this article Better... Where's the pizzaz?.. where's the different colored effects on the letters and words?... 1/5
On a serious note, the behavior I was referring to is quite prevalent on the org. It pops up with some regularity in the announcement forum but those topics usually end up quickly locked or the posted is mocked into submission so quickly that it doesn't seem like it pops up as often as it does. However it's not usually done by people who even visit the forums, for every one of us known forum users there are thousands of people who just upload a video and that's it. That's the group I've noticed the attitude from the most.

You know, showing people this guide isn't going to change them. Sometimes constructive criticism doesn't work either. Just flat out telling them your first thoughts (drop the hammer) will get the point across alot better even if it does make them angry. I feel that's why QC's have been implemented on this site. So people can do this without being flamed by the creator.
People don't need a guide to know that they suck. They just need to be told they do, so that they can proove them wrong afterwards. Instead of bitching about it, they should just use it as a motivational drive. Constructive criticism is not a motivational tool from my approach. Being told stuff could of been done better this way or that way better while keeping them happy isn't always worth it.
Some times people just need the push to improve or gtfo and try something different.

"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Sort of, it's irony because you've been doing it for years. "God"ix knows how many people you have made give up or become better at the hobby instead of reproducing the same style vids that aren't all that great to watch. I didn't direct that at you really, it was towards everyone. I didn't even qoute anything from you. The first line was directed towards you and that's it. I have a feeling you knew it wouldn't change people though anyways.godix wrote:Out of idle curiosity, do you see any irony in the fact you're telling *ME* this?
I might have got a QC from you that changed my feelings toward lip syncing and I've become better at it for that reason. I'm not sure if it was from you though but the overall idea is the same. I didn't bitch about it but rather learned from it.

Ironically, this article applies to all those who have quit the AMV community because of their ego perspective. If only we could track each and every one them down and send this article to them, because they sure aren't coming back to see a godix post.
But then again maybe that statement is contradicting the point of this article. Maybe not. It was their choice to leave. And it's our choice to stay.
One things' for sure though, if your ego's worth more than your work, than surely your work must be worthless.

I don't think tracking some of those people down would be worth it, because I don't think that many of those people who have quit would benefit from that article..
