This isn't quite "what not to do in an AMV" -- it's more along the lines of "what not to do for an AMV you plan to post on the .org". It's related, though, so I might as well share it.

6) If you've yet to post a video, do NOT post your first video under an account which could be construed as belong to a male. It invites nothing but slogging and insults.

Instead, create an account which sounds feminine. Make up some profile details to enhance the illusion. Study the way self-described "geek girls" write (you can find all sorts of blogs like that with a Google search) and pick out the textual elements which infuse femininity into the text. Attempt to adopt those conventions in your own writing.

This technique, if executed correctly, is guaranteed to do one or more of the following:

(1) Constructive criticism. (This is good.)
(2) Fanboys. (This can be good, so long as you treat your fanboys as human shields for flames.)
(3) Creepy stalkers. (This is never good. In fact, if you get (3), then you probably executed this technique too well. The best thing to do in this case is to mysteriously vanish and re-appear some time later.)

It helps if you can get a semi-famous friend or two (read: kiss ass) on your side before doing this, because it facilitates propagation your name.

This post is not sardonic.

This may explain why 50% of Australian amv creators who have yet to meet me irl think I'm a proxy account of Jay's, and the other 50% think I'm a chick.

. For the love of God, do not filter-whore. It doesn't make your AMV look pretty when you slam so many effects I can't see what the heck is going on in the video. Be artistic, but not seizure-ific.
Ruin their fun why don't you -_-, this is what seperates us from the 5 monkeys having butt sex with a fish squirrel. To be able to show off to our friends and say "Heh. I can never ask that one girl out on a date, but I can show you that I'm a artist of epic proportions."

All joking aside this is my conclusion.

Rule ??)No matter what Filter you add, it's still that same crappy amv with the same scenes as the 100 other amvs to come. -_-

You'll get the wondertwin effect where no one says anything bad about your videos and if anyone dares point out a flaw the fanboys gang up to destroy he who attacks their goddess.

If you want honest feedback poke around and find the people with reputations for giving good ops/betas and just ask them. It really is as simple as that.

Actually the justification was that I 'type like a chick'.

Wait, your not Jay's proxy account where he poses as a chick? Next thing you're going to tell me is that your some burly Aussie (or Jay's a burly Aussie). :|

Aussie minus the burly. I used to be burly. Then I got lazy. Too difficult to keep up the stereotype.
