Authors should use constructive criticism to examine their work from a new perspective, and gauge for themselves if the feedback has merit and the work should be changed.
i think this is one of the most often missed points. people get opinions that say "you could have done this video section better by doing such and such edits" and the editors go "well i'm not gonna go back and change it the way you like it.."

Agreed. The key word here is "constructive".
Also, the key point is most of the complainers don't know how to recognize criticism as being constructive because they let their ego get in the way.

i love this kind of feedback when im beta testing, but at the same time i gotta tell my beta testers WHEN I'm ready for that kind of feedback... (I usually like to work out my own kinks first)

x2 On the good read ^_^

I gotta say, the a-m-v.org forums have alway been good, but I think that due to the pure avalabilaty of people's work. Your music video will speek your rank in this place, rather than how much fire you can spew at your fellow forum-ites.

See megatokyo for exsample.

I think that that guide was pretty poorly written considering that this was supposed to come from some kind of professional. I mean the main audience of this article is supposed to be all those flamers and stupid people that make the internet suck and it's written in a way that any DBZnamewhatever person can easily ignore it (since she's even admitting to being elitist herself in one part, you know how the minds of the people she's adressing here work right? They'll just read that and put the article aside immediately).

I think this isn't a guide, it's more or less disguised as one but in reality it's just a normal "god the internet sucks"-rant, it's just not as obvious as most others. No honestly, my constructive criticism is that this thing will never ever reach the people it's supposed to due to it's style of writing.

(In after irony. I just felt like returning the favor to the author, showing her that I understood what she was talking about. Since posting "good read" was the problem to begin with, right?)

Actually, the main audience is people that can't handle criticism and ask that all negative feedback be hidden from public view.
