what to do if you win and arnt there to see it?

Post by Jasta85 » Tue Oct 09, 2007 9:06 pm

if this is in the wrong forum then im sorry, please move the thread

anyway, ive never submitted an amv to a con before but i have been considering it as some of my latest amvs would actually be worth showing to the general public without me embaressing myself. but if i were to submit an amv to a con and by some freak of nature it were to win and i was unable to attend the con what would happen? would i just get my congratz mailed to me or something? do they have a set up for amv makers who cannot make it to a convention but would still like to submit an amv for a contest?

It depends on the contest. A large amount of them will mail your stuff to you. Others might need a proxy to be sent in your place so that your prizes can be picked up.

^^
*agrees*

That said, always read over the rules for the con before actually entering. That kind of information is usually included somewhere in the rules more often than not. And if by some chance the coordinator for the contest didn't include that information, be sure to inquire about it.

and it's always something new each time - eventually you'll get it though, even if it takes a year to show up and only then because you started posting in their next years contest thread about the fact that they don't give out prizes despite what the guidelines state.

Also, some won't even do proxies. Most will, and i'd venture a guess that a majority of winners over the sum-total of all cons aren't actually present.

They'd send some guys over to your house...

Like others said, it varys from con to con and from year to year. Some cons mail the prizes later even if you are there!

That's one reason I try to get all my trophies and prizes for contests I run out right away so everyone has then within 6-8 weeks (Europe tends to take a bit longer sonetimes)... I've managed to to that for the past 5 years.

What tends to happend is the logner it's put off, the more likley it will not be send until way later... come to think of it, I'm Still waiting for my Directors Chair from this years Sakura-Con to be send to me
