  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I tried VERY hard to like this but I just kinda found I couldn't....your editing style was nice and I think the pairing of the anime and song was a....creative....choice, but it didn't really feel like you were actually syncing with the beats that well...you were trying to use like, motion sync with the characters, but the characters motions we're all that extreme, or at least the ones in the scenes you chose, so I don't think it because apparent WHAT you were syncing your scenes to.

1:40-1:43 was perfect, the motions during their dance came out looking very disjointed which WORKED with the music
I also thought the scene at :21 worked very well, but other than those I can't say this worked out too well in terms of sync.

I'd say 3.5/5 because while this was nice and cute to watch, there just wasn't much there at all...

The editing style is homage to Chris Cunningham’s directing method. It is the exact same style as the original music vid and most of Chris Cunningham’s/Aphex Twin’s other videos. N0OB, the exaggerated motions are present in the original, so unless you see the original you may not get the most out of the amv. With Cunningham directing and with Aphex twin composing, their videos become simply insane. Windowlicker and Rubber Johnnie are the other two awesome music videos they did together. Don’t know why you cut the scream short though – that’s one of the best parts!

I felt it was somewhat good overall, I liked the effects and I thought the short haired girl opening the door with the visual effects matching the static in the song looked really good. The arm waving at 16s was effective too. But some scenes were held in view too long or weren’t appropriate and detracted from the chaotic feel of the music (her eating ice cream, sleepy at the computer), or they weren’t hard hitting enough (the come to daddy scene for one) and so didn’t match the mood. I havent seen this series, but I have heard what it is about and imagine it wouldnt have a huge supply of appropriate scenes to use, which wouldve made it difficult to make.

Alot of the moves and cuts didn’t match the song’s bass hits or electronic cymbal chimes as well; they instead were randomly placed and so were hit and miss with the timing, some matching, most not. The dance sequence appeared to sync superficially, but it doesnt actually match the beats, its hit and miss. Also, Im surprised there was no credit given to Cunningham or the original MV in the description as a major influence for the style (which is the exact same), it would've be good ettiquete to mention that.

It was a fun vid to watch, but it could’ve been alot better IMHO. If treated as a side project then I believe it was really good. It doesnt feel like a major project though.

Anybody who knows me knows that Cunningham/Gondry are idols of mine. And, this is a side project, it was a clip for AMV Hell 4, which I just decided to spice up for release, so yeah, basically 2 evenings after work to get it cranked out. Due to the response, however, I may be doing the entire track for an upcoming convention.

Again, my thing is never to emulate somebody else exactly, so a lot of this is my own interpretation, especially everything else except for the scream itself (which was the focus of the AMV Hell track)

but yeah, glad you liked it :)
