Anyways, the idea: American Idiot MEP
For one, while MEPs have been done to certain bands in the past, there haven't been many done to an album. Also, American Idiot is a rock opera. For those who don't know, the term is used to a lyrical story described in the songs itself (Songs relating to each other). American Idiot itself describes the life and times of Jesus of Suburbia (For more info, you can check out Wikipedia's entry for American Idiot, all the tracks are described in further detail)
I think this idea could work. It'd be awesome to see a couple of editors or so do their adaptations or interprations of the character, and his exploits. It'd be cool to see a lot of different anime and editing styles combine with the music itself to deliver what I think is a really cool and interesting story.
Details
For one thing, I think there definitely will be more than one editor per song, maybe one if they can handle it. A lot of the songs transition into each other quite nicely, a few exceptions here and there. The album length is 57:13, with the majority of the songs being over 3 minutes (longest single movement song is probably Wake Me Up When September Ends, at 4:45).
For the multi-movement songs, Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming, I think it could be done with an editor taking each part, each being around a minute long. Plus, considering the parts themselves transition flawlessly into the next, it could almost be described as a mini-MEP. Editing-wise, I don't think there is much of a specific criteria (Unless you're planning to do dance-style editing, in which case is no). You could almost say the same for whatever you're planning to edit with.
Anyways, it'd be great to hear your thoughts on this so I can hopefully add any more useful details, or improve it. I see potential in this, and I'd like to know what you guys think about it first
