WAIMV 2007 Rules and Information

Post by Rei_zero » Tue Sep 18, 2007 3:07 am

Ok, Wai-cons coming up, and I've been ever so slightly slack in putting these here.

Rules:
  • This competition is open to both international and national entrants.
  • there is a maximum of 3 videos per creator or group
  • all participants in the creation of the video must be included on the entry form
  • Videos should not contain overly graphic scenes (violence, sex etc..) Wai-con is a family friendly event.
  • All entries should be submitted by the 5th of December 2007. no entries past this date will be accepted. (postal entries must be postdated prior to the 4th)
  • The committee and competition organisers reserve the right to deny any video entry at any time, for any reason
  • Footage used within the video must be resricted to anime and/or game footage. Videos with a higher proportion of game footage will be judged in a seperate category.
  • Video length should be under 5 minutes. longer entries may be edited or dropped from the competition without notice.
  • Any videos entered into previous Wai-con events will not be accepted.
  • The videos are not to contain any intro or outro cuts, special cuts will be made for each video being screened.
  • The judges decisions are final, no disscusion over the decision will therfore be entered into by the judges.
General Information.
All entries must be in a digital format, either submitted online or on either a cd or DVD. any discs supplied will not be returned after the event, so please don't send your only copy.
All submitted entries must be in either, AVI, MP4, MPG, WMV, MKV or OGM containers only only, these included the following codec types:
  • DivX, Xvid, DV-AVI,HuffYUV,FFDshow
  • MPEG1, MPEG2
  • H.264
  • WMV (Windows Media Video)
MOV and RM (realmedia) Formats Will not be accepted

Audio can be either PCM (Uncompressed), Mpeg2 layer 2/3 format or LAME MP3.

Please submit your video in the highest quality possible, as this will be included in the final judging process. typically this is is at least 640X480 and larger for 4:3 format and 640x360 or larger for 16:9 format.

Judging categories:
  • Game
  • Action/horror
  • Drama/romance
  • Comedy/parody
  • Judges Choice
  • Audience Favorite
Additional categories may be added depending on the total response.

Forms will be handed out as people enter the room for the audience favorite category, these will be collected after the screening and tallied to decide the final winner.

Due to possible time constraints, not every video may end up being screened. unfortunatly there will be no way to avoid this. however every video submitted, and deemed suitable, will be judged. any videos screened will be a random selection of all suitiable entries.

Also a reminder.
There just 3 weeks until I close off entries to the competition, and there is no extendning the deadline. (I have personal comitments during the week prior and as such need all the time I can allow)

I've also had several enquires to the 5 minute limit. I would like to stress to people that the limit is in the rules for a reason, and deviating from it, even for one person means I have to do it for everyone.
