Sine it's the first running as long as the video can be played it should be fine. The Restrictions. Though I I believe that DIVX will be the standard for the codex if any. I'm not to sure of the equipment I will be working with since it's not MY equipment I will pass this down to the staff and see what they say.
* Keep all submissions to the same standards of a PG-13 film, at most. This includes video content, as well as music lyrics. If there are any questions about content, please ask a staff member as soon as possible for clarification.

* Submissions should be between ninety seconds and six minutes in length. Videos that are not within these time constraints will be penalized points or risk complete removal from judging.

* All AMVs must have the proper credits appearing either before or after the video. This includes, but is not limited to, the musician/s, song title, and anime series used. Creators may optionally add personal credits to the end of the AMV, as long as they do not exceed 20 seconds.

* Please submit a hard copy of your video on either a CD or DVD at the convention, along with the entry form. No electronic submission option is available, nor are there any plans to implement one before this year’s convention.

* Entries must be received at least three hours before the beginning of the contest. Depending on the number of entries, videos received after the deadline are not guaranteed a position in the contest.

* If you do not wish for you AMV to be judged, it may be submitted for exhibition after the conclusion of the judging segments. Please note that exhibition AMVs will also be prescreened for content and are expected to accredit the respective artist/s, song title, and series represented by the AMV.

* All videos will be pre-screened before the public screening to insure functionality and content. Screeners reserve the right to remove videos from the lineup if the content is deemed too offensive for the PG-13 limits.

* All videos will be screened using VLC Media Player and the latest audio and video codecs to insure the highest rate of success for all video types. Please avoid “Real” and “Quicktime” formats.
((Edit))

As for the codec question, tell them "If it plays on VLC, you're good to go." Whatever rig we use should have DivX, among other codecs, and VLC is a beast of a player.

Yeah, this is what's going to stop most people. Though the decision was made just recently, I understand that you might not have time to throw an online submission plan together. But that's gonna cut down the pool.

On the other hand, it shifts all the stress of setting up the system into those few hours when you have to gather those DVDs/CDs and render up yourself a contest on the spot.

I'm gonna be there anyway - my sister and I have an Alley table - so I'm gonna bring a couple. You don't have any rules against submitting more than one, huh? They're in different categories.

...Also, call me stupid, but I can't find the form. Says submit on DVD along with the form, but I can't find the form linked anywhere.
