AMV Playlist?

Post by Pas » Sat Sep 08, 2007 12:44 am

Firstly, sorry if this thread has already been made (I did a word seach but there were too many results for me to make sure there was another such thread), feel free to lock it if there is already one.

Ok, well what I wanted to find out was, out of your entire AMV collection, what are the 15 AMVs that you never seem to get bored with, and keep playing, even though you've heard it so many times already?

I also listed the AMV creators out of respect, but you don't have to spend the time doing that if you don't want to.

For me it's (in no particular order):

1. Skittles - Koop (god knows why I love this song)
2. Waking Hour - Koop (i sleep to this song)
3. Momentum - Koop (yet another koop amv)
4. Feel The Mambo - ScorpionP (love his AMVs)
5. Zestubou Kira (Time takes us all) - Fuze (i got the actual video clip because of this amv)
6. Euphoria - Koop (yes damnit, i am a koop fan)
7. We Are Not Alone - Night800 (love the song)
8. Breathing - Funky-Kun (ok, i'll admit right now i was addicted to this amv)
9. Taivas Skies On Fire - Teo (love those high notes)
10. Always Hardcore - Nostromo (makes me feel cool ;))
11. From The Ashes - silver_moon (somehow relaxing)
12. Love Like Winter - Anna-Maeve Studios & WGCD Productions (love the song)
13. Spirit Never Dies - istiv-199 (initially i hated the song and loved the amv, but now i love the song and the amv)
14. Caelum - Lucifiel (didnt even bother to watch it at first, but when i did, it quickly becamse a fav)
15. Worlds Unbroken - Sierra Lorna & silver_moon (i sleep to this song)

I actually set these on a playlist and fall asleep to them. AMVs have actually opened me up to a whole variety of music that I would have otherwise never listened to.

Of course, these aren't the only AMVs I play, but they certainly are the ones I tend to play the most.

Ohh I love Twist of Fate, but I only got that a few days ago so I can't say that I've watched it too many times yet. The song is really great though. Reflections is another one that I love, but for some reason I find the song too depressing to fall asleep to.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll be sure to download every amv you've listed so far just to see what kind of AMVs you guys appreciate.

in no order (and the reasons i like them, briefly)

1:Naruto's Technique Beat (Decoy Ops)
-The level of technique in this (editing, that is) is pretty nice, as well as having an incredibly good "atmosphere" (makes you immersed in the video)

2:No Worries (Dragon Roy)
-Not really any amazing effects, only decent audio timing, and while the general "feel" of the video is very nice, what does it for me is the "explosive" moments, where when the music picks up, the energy in the video and the scene used tap into that explosion in the music and amplify it.

3:To Become (Crono)
-This video is an example of very basic, simple editing techniques being used very little, which causes a higher impact on the viewer due to their small use. The main thing though is the obvious beat-timing, and scenes matching perfectly to the words in the song, giving it it's own storyline.

4:DNWA (polecat)
-I have to say, i've watched just about every death note AMV out there so far, and this has got to be one of the best ones by a mile, even if it's a comedy/parody type video, it's genius. Obvious hard time spent getting all the scenes needed along with great knowledge of the series.

5:Darkness over light (Michele & Hintasan)
-I have to say, yes, I already have three naruto AMV's in this list, and while it's not even close to my favorite series, this video has a very unique feel to it, which I can't really describe, but like the No Worries video, it captures the "explosion" feeling very nicely, but mostly what gets me about it is that it really does feel somewhat "odd" in a unique, good way compared to most AMV's on the org.

6:A day in the life of (Unstable Productions)
-This was an AMV I always found awesome; one of the best examples of "lyrical scene matching" that i've seen (although a video further down this list ties it), and the song used fits with the parody theme of the series itself.

7:FAV (NHMK)
-Still one of the wildest AMV's ever, very subtle beat timing in a lot of points in this video that you may not notice unless you really pay attention. Same goes for any effects used, rather subtle except for a few cases, but both of these again lead into a more immersive experience, instead of being so blunt and gaudy like most action videos are.

8:Hikaru_no_ikusa (Olw)
-This video's always came off to me as a very cool, free-flowing type of video, and by that I mean that it never really interrupts itself with some sort of sudden, flashy effect, and all effects used (including the awesome masking at the end) just "flow" with the video, naturally, instead of feeling like they were forced in there.

9:Recollection (Zarxrax i think?)
-I don't even know who actually made this video, but I don't even think I need to explain why this video just is incredible. Being a video editor myself (outside of AMV's i mean), this kind of video is just incredible to me.

10:Those cursed memories (Roccket)
-This video as a whole has nothing that REALLY stands out to me, but it just seems very well composed, an "all-around" video that fits the music nicely and has a good flow to it.

11:Without GTO (Ronald Ladao)
-The AMV that ties "A day in the life of" with lyrical matching with scenes, (although the visual quality and editing level is higher) and more than likely probably the only AMV i've seen out of the thousand+ AMV's i've seen at this point (more than likely) that actually MAKES THE VIDEO BETTER by leaving in the original, ENGLISH audio. Nice use of masking when it's done as well.

12:This is your life (Scott Melzer)
-Probably the only DBZ AMV i've ever liked, nuff said.

13:Anxiety (Taskmasta)
-Before I learned AE, the comic book effect in here (along with some other stuff) was rather impressive to me; not to say it's sucky now that I know how to do it in AE, but this video I like mostly for nostalgia, nice scene matching, making a storyline out of itself, nice beat matching (but not overdoing it), nice following the musical intensity (although no "explosive" feeling).

14:Whisper of the Beast (Scorpions Ultd)
-Pretty much the same reason as the Recollection video, adding in the fact that the video follows the intensity of the music better than pretty much everything i've ever seen, throughout the entire video. The stuff at the end though with Naruto at home and with it raining i could have probably done without though.

15:Believe (VicBond007)
-This video I like for pretty much the same reasons as Recollection, except it uses many different effects (many of them being tied to "slashes of light" as it were). To add into this (and Recollection), I actually don't even LIKE 99% of J-pop (both this and Recollection's songs I didn't even really like that much), and i've never played either of the games that either of the AMV's were from, nor do I know anything about them, which says a lot about how awesome they (AMV's) both are.

In no particular order:

Evolution Redux - TaranT - I don't know why, I think it's just I like the song

Morning Honkation - p0d - Happy and upbeat

Last Transmission - Corran - One of the rare dramas that isn't just two people staring at each other

Stop the Rock - Nappy - Catchy song and shameless effects

Rhythm Animation - Lostboy - very well put together

Beyond Rhythm - Icycloud - one of the better dance videos to come out in the last few years

Sheep Go To Heaven - Otohiko - I'm a sucker for odd audio

Odorikuruu - Aokakesu - still the best dance video evar

Daicon 4 opening - Gainax - This still owns almost everything made since it premiered. If only it were available in xvid or mp4 quality.

S-UP Complex - xandman - I usually stop it before the end, it's way too long for a mindless upbeat video. But fun song for mindless eurotrash

Sorrow - OtakuForLife & phrea Vicious - Usually I hate drama vids like this but I like this one. don't know why

Fuck Bebop - MikeGold - I'm a sucker for crude humor

Hard Knock Anime - Hackerzc - weirdly addicting

Doujin Addiction - Zarxrax - Sometimes I like a little effect whoring to go with my crude humor

Who Let the Fros Out - Ashyukun - and another just plain fun one
