Personally I love Howl's Moving Castle. And I really want this to be my best work. But I need some suggestions. Like, what song would you recommend? I was thinking Rock, or pop, something sad though. I want to make an AMV that can make someone cry. I have a couple questions:
1) When someone makes an AMV is it suppose to have a story?
2) What special affects are most effective for a romance/drama
3) Any advice for less experienced AMV makers who wish to put their AMVs into competition. (What do the judges look for, etc.?)
4) What do you like or look for a Romantic/Drama AMV
I would really appreticate this thank you.

If you want. Plenty get by without them. Frankly I find mood more effective and easier to conveymissind33 wrote:1) When someone makes an AMV is it suppose to have a story?
Depends on the vid. Try none. If you can't make it work without anything more complex then a fade, it probably won't work with fancy effects2) What special affects are most effective for a romance/drama
Can't really help you there, but one good way to see if it's good is beta testing. Check out #amv-review for that3) Any advice for less experienced AMV makers who wish to put their AMVs into competition. (What do the judges look for, etc.?)

find a song that makes you cry... edit that song, and try to match the scenes with the mood rather than rely on "story" (what some people call story others wont see as story anyways)
use the emotion in the video rather than relying on "video effects" and you will probably likely have more of an emotional impact, either that or make your effects blend with the movie, rather ones that stick out like a "zomg im so awsum wit FX!!" simple effects are the best for a drama/romance imho.
if you make a video based on effects all people will see is the effects, where as if you focus on the emotion of the image rather than how many random pretties you can add you will have a better chance at reaching an audience.
