That's why unless its a series I've been waiting with baited breath to be released stateside, I usually wait for box sets/thin packs to buy them.

Justify it like this. Assuming youre using the anime as AMV source, the original release has fewer episodes per disc, which USUALLY (in b4 rebuttals) means higher bitrate, which from a mathematical standpoint SHOULD mean higher quality video :O

Quite true, but it's more hurt to the wallet and sadly also takes up more space on my already overcrowded bookshelves. I'm running out of room ^^()

Damn, I must now admit that reading this thread has tempted me... I would need to solve a lot of logistical problems first, unless of course you wouldn't mind me using nothing but Berserk and live action films.

I may give installing all that stuff a whirl, who knows. Don't go out of your way to save a spot for me, though.

And here I thought I was retired...

Oh, and if I don't end up participating, I can't wait to see what everyone produces. It's looking like it'll be a fantastic contest.
