Re: A New AMV Maker....
personally i think the answer to number one is all about skill. sure vegas and the others has some neater effects, but they're difficult to use. i think you should learn how to use WMM first.XiaoMovieMaker wrote:I have recently decided to start working on a couple of AMVs.
Now I have NEVER made a single AMV before so I felt that I should get my research done before i start working on this "project".
So here's a few questions I compiled after reading a bit around the forums:
1. Since i'm a beginner, is it good to make an AMV with Windows Movie Maker? Or should I just purchase Adobe Premiere/Vegas 7/Magix Movie Edit?
2. I downloaded the AMVapps and used DVD Decrypter to rip off the files, but unfortunately, they aren't in AVI format, which is supposedly the easiest to handle with, what should I do?
~In regards to the above situation, I used some DVD ripping freeware that outputs as an AVI file, but since it was freeware, it left an annoying watermark...
3. I was studying some filters and I currently have a program that handles two of them, Sharpening filters and smoother/temporal smoother filters, but i have no idea where to get the other filters in. What programs do you guys use?
I think those 3 questions should do for now, once I get organized and do a little more research, i'll start my first AMV!
Thank you~
as for number two from what i understand avi doesn't have sound. which i suppose is easier, but i don't see what's so difficult about clips with sound really.
and i have no idea about number three.

Okay, computer is finally fixed
It feels good to have a fresh start
Now i am "almost" done reading the beta guide and man...that was a LOT of reading...
well...at least i'm almost done with the video section, and i kinda touched up a bit on the audio section...it was killer, but worth it XD [but it still felt like school started early...]

btw alot of the free programs only let you upload up to a gig at a time`Eclipse wrote:Yeah, but telling you from experience, CuteFTP (Home and Pro versions) is shareware. It lets you use it for 30 days exactly, before asking you for a serial key. There are other great free alternatives, although if you're gonna buy it, good for you as it definitely is a stellar FTP programwow u guys have a guide for everything....so was it necessary that i installed "cuteFTP"? it was suggested in the upload video section

Re: A New AMV Maker....
when working with audio from your clips, the tricky thing is keeping them in synch while keeping your audio consistant. see normaly you can stretch video clips darned near as long or as short as you like. audio is very touchy. even if your program can keep the tone as you stretch it, stretching it more than JUST a little and not sounding like a giant with a hernia or a chipmunk in heat is simply impossible!!oska-chan wrote:personally i think the answer to number one is all about skill. sure vegas and the others has some neater effects, but they're difficult to use. i think you should learn how to use WMM first.XiaoMovieMaker wrote:I have recently decided to start working on a couple of AMVs.

Working with audio is too hard for most people. I, on the other hand, am macho and LOVE working with audio ;p.
Coarse working with audio also opens up a whole other book of copyrights as well -_-. If your entering into cons, VAs tend to be very touchy about this stuff. You could always just do it yourself (VERY tricky) or subtitle it, wich is the second most popular (though by FAR) method. Most ppl just don't know dick about audio.
