I agree in some cases, but I'm not so petty to go so far as to removing their credits. :/ (I mean if ppl want to have sucky intros then its their choice)
I've never been a fan of intros that:
1. use other animes with a mini amv style going on... (wait i thought i was watching a cardcaptor sakura video, wtf is this death note shit?)
2. have opening bumpers that completely debunk the actual mood of the video I was going to watch (haha its funny to see some guy trying to grab bewbs, but this I thought was a drama vid? wtf?)
3. that last longer than a few seconds... intros that go on for minutes that should pretty much just be their own amv instead of credits for another amv... (i dled to watch the CCS remember? not the death note stuff)
Outros are a completely different subject entirely:
comedic outros on a drama vid don't bother me because they are at the END after I have watched the thing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
my first video had a rainbow bright clip that someone got mad at me for, it was one of the complaints i got in my first opinion so it was something I learned right away, I haven't used animated intros since... (this intro has actually been removed from the distributed version of the video, so no, you can't see it anymore - unless you are one of the people who downloaded the original file.)
I tend to use a simple splash screen that has my website/studio name and the year the video was made.. though I do change the picture every year (my cat gets to be it this year - not sure what I'm going to do next year, though I have a few ideas)...
I kinda picked up the clue from a few editors that use the same logo almost every time... I found it easier to recognize editors I liked cause when I saw their logo I was all "oh hey I remember the other video they did that I liked." so, that idea to use the same image/logo every time seemed reasonable and like a good one.
SOME my favorite logos/intros/ourtos have been:
Jihaku - I love the intro for this video it feels very pro.. (I donno if he does similar ones on all of his vids)
Scintilla's logo (I really like what he did with it for Waka Laka for Osaka - it helped set up the mood of the video XD)
Aluminum Studio's (the eyes... tis pretty)
I like how DokiDoki just kinda inserts his logo in at the end.
I like what JudgeHolden does with his intros and outros... granted its not the same "logo" every time but they are still rather fun XD
I love the outro for Dewelepers (I probably spelled it wrong) but the outro never ends and it amuses me greatly XD
and I'm sure that theres more but I just can't think of them right now.
Those sequances can take several minutes, but with AMVs you only have to stand the horrible pain for a few seconds. It's also not entirely impossible to skip them.
Is it just me or does this bitching really seem to come from an angry individual, who didn't think too long before posting?
hehehe "youth of today" hehehe, your dad is likely younger than me too
I'm not "pissed", and why is it that any criticism is immediately described as angry?
Maybe from now on I just won't mention things I might think could be improved, and just rate any amv that fails an extremely brutal appraisal as a 1 with the comment being, "you need more practice kiddo"
I don't mind people being proud of their work, I'd just rather not have a sudden sound spike at the beginning. It only makes the amv look amatuerish moreso than is practical. I've turned off amvs and rated them lower than I might have, all because the opening lost me.
It's no different than in the world of advertising people. If you lose your audience in the first few critical seconds, you just failed.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.
I think it depends on the type of video how you would do credits.
For comedy you would do something random and just simple funny stuff.
Special FX by: Accident
Fade in and out some noise, "We are experiencing Techinical Difficulties."
Have a credits sign fall from the top of the screen to the floor and que some breaking glass etc...
just random funny shit
Action would be some flashes with quick moving text maybe some 3D movements blah
Romance and drama might be more difficult.
All in all if you just use plain boring credits then you should put it at the end of the amv cause if they see that at the start they will lose interest or have low expectations for the rest of the amv.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
I'd be angry too, if I were constantly bumping into videos that are killed by the editor's appearent misjudgement when it comes to bumpers. The thing is, I don't barely find enough of such cases, unless we were to search what youtube has to offer on that aspect.lestheanimesarge wrote:I'm not "pissed", and why is it that any criticism is immediately described as angry?
Heh. I agree with JazziaDax.
I try and stick some sort of photoshopped image in the amv before it starts, then have credits at the end for an outro with some interesting anime segment.
I think JazziaDax's videos have the right concept for intros, and I think Kikai Saigono (probably just screwed up her username) and JubJub have got the right idea for outros (Especially Kiki and JubJub's latest videos).
