comped 0.o well... perhaps I shouldn't have paid for my badge then...

The challenge is different then that of Iron Editor. IE informs it's competitors of their theme prior to the event, we do not. Rather then choosing source that each editor has to use we allow them to bring their own, minus the Secret Ingredient.

Essentially, each competitor has to come up with their idea on the spot so that it will fit the theme and then figure out how to incorporate the Secret Ingredient in their video. I've found this can be even more challenging. It all boils down to who can come up with the better idea and execute it within the two hour time frame.

Plus, we're talking about hentai AMVs. Without a good idea we get nothing but sex put to music which is essentially what hentai already is. And we've all seen that.

ok sense im doing the VAT Dance this year and your planing to do this after that, at what time would you like to have the dance done by so you can have your Hard-on Editor challenge. I will say that I have no guarantee that I will end it when you want but I just want to know so I can plan a certain amount to vids to play.

Alright, since people don't seem to be following directions I guess I'll just list the technical info here.

Due to the limitations of the VAT we will only be able to accommodate 6 competitors. You have been warned of the problems with power, though the power outlets we will be using should not be as bad as the power drops the VAT staff use. It is recommended that you bring your own power strip just in case if you are worried about your equipment. Of course, headphones will be a good idea to have on you, we plan to be loud and quite distracting, especially when we start playing games.

Each competitor will be expected to stop editing when the 2 hours is up. After that point they can begin exporting and the conversion process. We will be playing the finished products using the VAT's equipment, so final conversion into MPEG/MPEG2 will also be required after the export is complete, unless I am informed otherwise before the competition (I'll brief everyone before the competition starts.) So the ultimate quality of your video is all left up to you.

While we will not be providing source that each competitor has to use, we will in fact provide source if a competitor requests it. We have a set selection of a few series that we can offer to help compliment the total source for an editor. Let me know if you will need this and I will setup a time at con or make arrangements pre-con to get the source to you. As previously stated, you are allowed to bring in your own music as well.

It is a fact that the setup of this competition allows for the use of different editing software and platforms. There is no rule that will bar the use of any program, as we want the competitors to work with what they know in order to produce the best video they can. The only requirement is that your platform will be USB2.0 ready or be able to read a DVD+RW or a DVD-R in order to accept the secret ingredient.

Timeframe:

Due to the fluidity of our start time I cannot offer an exact time that the event will start. It is recommended that you bring your equipment to the event 30 mins prior to seating so we can get everything setup. I will request some way to contact the competitors at con so that you will know when to arrive to the event. (I will do this closer to con time)

That should cover all the bases. If you have further questions please ask. PM me, email me at ngsilver@ngsilver.com or post it to the thread.

~~~~~~~~~~
As for our competitors. We have 2 editors ready to take the plunge and 2 more who haven't made up their mind. That leaves us with 2 completely open slots and 2 semi-open slots.
Remember, this is first come first served. (however, if you show up at the event with your laptop ready for a throw down, I doubt you will be turned away)
List of current competitors:
(taking a max of 6)
1. ChaosProjects
2. Kitsuner
3. ssgwnbtd
4.
5.
6.
Uh, no, I meant not missing out as in being there, not actually competing, since I lack the laptop to do so :lol: So, scratch me off that list.
I would like to know by Sept 1st. Though technically you could show up ready to edit at the event and that would still be ok.
As for who you face... well... you kind of are going to be facing everyone at once. Though, as it stands I will not be competing, since I will be hosting the event. Though, if someone loans me an editing box and can actually take the reigns, I may hop in for the hell of it. However, that is highly unlikely.
You'll have to take me on some other time.
