Donators forum IC match

Awhile ago Jasper/Otohiko had an IC and I noticed quite a few people indicated they were interested in doing one. So lets try a mass IC. Anyone with donator forum access can participate. Since anyone in the donators forum can participate we're going to have set judges instead of the community deciding as is usually done. For obvious reasons I'm not saying who the judges are. There are three of them and they were selected partially on the fact they have different tastes in AMVs so most editing styles will get a fair shake. For the record, I'm not one of the judges. I'll actually be participating and the judges won't know which video is mine.

When you join I will give you a list of a few songs and you MUST use one of them. Any anime can be used but the video should be org safe just because we aren't running a hentai contest here. Audio editing is allowable but keep in mind the judges aren't stupid, attempts to get around the rules by including just a bit of required audio probably won't be rated well.

The contest will run a week to allow for different peoples schedules. However you won't be allowed to edit the whole week. Each editor will have 48 hours. When you have time to start editing then PM me, I will send you the songs and FTP info to upload your final too. If the video is not uploaded within 48 hours of my reply then you'll be disqualified. Just an FYI, currently I will not be around between 4pm to 8pm CST and I'm rarely around in the morning hours so don't expect me to reply during those times. So, to be perfectly clear here, you can request to do a bit up to 12:30am EST August 9th. Judging will begin when the last persons track comes in, which will be 12:30 EST August 11th at latest. Although of course watching the videos and deciding isn't an instant process so I imagine it'll be a day or two before we know the results.

In order to keep judging blind I will assign you a number when giving you the audio. The filename of your video should be that number and ONLY that number. No identifying marks should be in the video. All communication on this should go through me rather than the judges. Posting in this thread is fine, but keep it general. Any question specific enough it could identify your track should be PMed to me. The judges or I will disqualify anyone who tries to influence judging but I don't really expect that to be a problem, we're all good sports in here hopefully.

I'd be interested. But since I have dial up every day except for Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, I would like to request the 48 hours to be respective to when I have my high speed internet. For example, I would need to get the information on Sunday or Monday or Friday.

We can work around the 48 hour deadline for issues like this. Actually I already have an idea of how to do this fairly. PM me when you're ready to edit and I'll explain what I'd like you to do if you can't get it uploaded within the deadline. I should note the audio is a 26 meg download since I included several songs in a zip although, again, that can be worked around if need be.

Sounds interesting. Sign me up. I just did a 3 day video, so that's a good warm up, lol ...isn't it weird how these things work?

I think I might be able to take 48 hours off of my current schedule, so count me in. I think everyone would be happy to have something to make them feel better about themselves.

Hmph... Interesting/intriguing.. but I can't imagine creating something that I'd be content with in such a timeframe. So I guess I'll pass on this one.

I had a couple questions in private I thought I'd answer for all:

Other audio can be mixed in. The judges can disqualify any video if they think someone was obviously trying to skirt the rules by including just a bit of required audio. All three judges are knowledgeable about AMVs and know the difference between quality and bullshit.

As far as video content, consider yourself constrained by org local hosting rules. No sexual nudity. No excessive violence. Live action can be used as long as most of the video is anime.

What about tech specs? Or will everyone just release their video individually, if they choose?
