A question

Post by Nygmatech Enterprises » Wed Jul 25, 2007 6:55 pm

So I went to the Otakon 07 Iron Editor, where they showed quite a bit of old favorites. Real Ninjas, Something Fishy and the like. I think it was hosted by a John Westbrook? I'm not sure. Anyway, one of the videos shown was this history of Gainax AMV. The song used and the title escape me but I'd like to add it to my collection.

The only clue I have is that it was made by the host himself. He mentioned it during the "Name that series" quiz he played while the Editors were working.

Could anyone help me out on this? I'd like to see it again. Thanks.

This was the first one to come to mind for me, dunno if it's what you're thinking of though:

However, I believe this is the person you're talking about:

You could go and try to see if what you're looking for is listed on their profile.

Hmmm... I wonder what that something fishy could have been... We shall send a team to investigate!

Yup, BTTY would be the video you're thinking of. It's one of the more amusing ones to use in the contests at the Iron Editor for me because if you know your anime fairly well it's a piece of cake (since all the sources are Gainax shows...) and yet almost all the contestants end up getting stumped after the really well-known ones are guessed.

And to clarify a bit: John Westbrook (hackerzc) is the contest coordinator for the Otakon AMV contest- he was there at the end to help with the announcement of the winners of the AMV contest, whereas I host the Iron Editor event. The IE is a separate entity from the actual contest, though we work together on announcing and showing the contest winners now since it by far makes the most sense.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

They haven't done it then since... well, several years ago (don't remember exactly). I don't know the exact details of it...
