Flint the Dwarf wrote:I'm not saying it was a great movie, but it wasn't that bad, especially as far as video game adaptations go. And I'm a huge horror movie fan (no, I don't think they're scary, or even supposed to be), so I guess I'm a little biased. It's not one of those movies that you can just laugh at the whole way through, because there's some reason in most of the character's actions. The story's just a little ridiculous, and the acting is... par. Par for Hollywood. Cinematography and score were great though.
What he said. Silent Hill is the best horror series in gaming because of the atmosphere and they did a good job in attempting to replicate it.

Oh, and Pyramid Head. you can't go wrong w/ Pyramid Head.
The only good thing about the movie was the cinematography and pyramid head.

Unfortunately the acting and the plot was awful. I'd have to disagree about the atmosphere as a whole because, really, the town was just plain empty half the movie. Most of the time it felt pretty safe and there was no tension as they just wandered around the streets. My favorite scene was the initial dark alleyway scene and it all just went downhill from there. I probably would have laughed my way through it if I wasn't busy getting annoyed at the character's actions and the unrealistic plot. The ending just kept dragging on, and it just wasn't enough to keep me from getting bored to tears by the end of the movie.

I have a hard time thinking of many other movies I can truly say that about. I'll stop ranting though.. I've said my piece...

Silent hill is the second worst movie I've ever sat through.

I spent a good half hour trying to convince a coworker that Ghostrider was NOT a kickass movie.

You've got to be kidding me. Now, I can see maybe a 12-13 yr old finding that "kickass", but not somebody over that. It just wasn't that... Nicholas Cage is a find actor, but he didn't play that part very well. I mean... Really. A serious (aging...) actor playing a daredevil?

Sigh*

Watch the trailer and look at the screenshots. Epic game is EPIC.

Or watch it here:

If you only watch the trailer... You won't see the goodies though... Look at the screenshots trust me. I have extremely high expectations for this. The fact that they brought horror into the overall picture just makes it all the more reason to buy it IMO 8-)

I'd buy it for the PC but I would never be able to get it to look the way I want on this POS. So PS3 it is.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this too:

Wish there was more to see/read about it but even so they had me at the second she turned to face "it"
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
