If history has taught us anything with obvious trolls (i.e. Wheee_It's_Me!), that simply won't happen.

Just quit posting there. I don't find calls to ban him to be reasonable and fair when the real problem are the people - regulars, at that - who constantly feed him.
I agree with this totally, but one problem I see with it is simply this: either multiple accounts or people that aren't aware of the "don't post" agreement. I believe some of those that post in his thread saying "great job 5/5" and nothing more are multiple accounts he's using to bump with. That or people that don't know better.

Nah, those people have other vids, and they're not even in his style. Even if you had the worst thing imaginable that the majority agreed, there would still be one person who would love it....

No one takes the higher ground and just doesn't post, that's how the org is, so saying that not posting is the solition, is just being blind and way too optimistic.
This thread could just as much be asking for someway to save us from ourselves, as you said, the posters are the real problem.
I support the rule to only post one thread (which you can now edit, so it's not like it's hindering your ability to release videos at all, it does nothing but clean up the forum) per week, not only as stopping someone from trolling, but stopping us from feeding the flames. :D

I should say though that both kickass himself and the people that respond to him generally go very quickly from actual discussion of videos to plain spamming. I know that it's hard to ask that given all the pressures of running the .org, but... in those cases the prerogative should be with the mods to cut the spam, and if it keeps on repeating - have a word with the spammers.

The problem isn't the announcement threads, it's the spam generated within them. Personally I think any administrative action should focus on that, and the serial spammers (including kickass) should have administrative warnings (and I hope they already did get them).
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

i had a word with spammers after the previous bout with kickass331. i'd like to resolve this without resorting to warns/bans as a primary option.

instituting a new rule in amv announcements would have come with extra costs to forum users and mods alike, but as of yet the benefits-costs difference appears better than the alternative of keeping check on spammers. for members, benefits include potentially less clutter on page 1, while costs include remembering that rule. for mods, its less spammers to warn/ban, while costs include... remembering and enforcing that rule.

nonetheless, i agree- if you're contributing to drama, don't complain about it.

Wait... Downwithpants, are you assuming the request was for constant mod supervision of the forum through a rule? OR something coded into the forum that restricts the posting of new topics on a timer? The later would probably be less of a hassle.

we may go with the timer post restriction thing, but i don't know when our dept of programming (doki) would have it ready. until then, we'll have to keep an eye out or rely on members to use the mod's drop box.
