We knew it was coming.

Post by Prodigi » Mon Jul 16, 2007 1:08 am

I am aware that this thread is better off being placed in the mod drop box, however, I felt that placing it here would be a better chocie, as it would allow for a calm and polite discussion amongst forum goers, and perhaps allow for links to other threads which support this request. Please note that I do not want this to degenerate into a flame fest like the rest of the threads concerning the member in question.

I call for the banning (from the Announcements forum at the very least) of Kickass331. His overwhelming number of releases in a short time, all in individual threads, can be viewed as spamming. These 8 threads were posted within 5 days of eachother:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81577
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81576
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81551
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81538
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81500
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81490
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81501
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=81465

Also, this thread/vid and this thread/vid were posted within 10 hours of eachother, and each entry and video is pretty much the same.

Also of note, in this thread he blatantly ignored the rules, and when this was pointed out to him, he acknowledged "Strangely, I read that exact line while uploading, and I usually skip the rules, I just checked and I didn't care ".

He often states, about his own videos, that "this video sucks..." waiting for a reply from a member of the forum backing up this statement, before turning around and arguing that "Actually I watched it again, I don't notice any rough spots and it looks fine TBH...", which can be viewed as obvious trolling.

His earlier threads did contain constructive criticism, and some suggestions and advice about improving visual quality and editing, but his usual response is always the same, and can be summarised with "NOUWRONG".

If these are not grounds for a ban, then could a mod please tell me what else is required?

I get the impression he was banned once because there was a lengthy gap between some posts (about a week IIRC) but yeah, since he started posting again, it's one after another after another and they really are ALL the same.

IMO... his constant posting could result in the bumping of several quality videos off the front page and are thus replaced with these threads that typically go nowhere and more often than not end up as spam wars.

While I will admit it was funny at first (the whole "I wonder when Kickass is gonna post" game), it' just getting on MY nerves. I will admit to posting in some of those threads and probably spamming them as well... but I think the joke is getting old... FAST.

This is also what really bothers me. There are many quality videos that are just being spammed off the announcements page, and everyone knows that no one looks on the second page...I very much consider his posts spaming the forum.

Fourthed.

I have tried on several occasions through PM, e-mail, and posting on how to correct his videos and make them up to standards. He refuses aid, continues to post insulting remarks, and is totally innapropriate.

we could make a new rule for the amv announcements forum that if you are going to release multiple videos in a day/week/other specified period of time, to pool it in one thread. if you have input on that, i'm open to hearing it.

otherwise, the only rule he has broken is uploading a beta, which we'll take action on. it's not against the rules to ignore criticism in the amv announcements forum. if you feel he's not listening to your criticism, just stop posting in his threads. it will make his threads go off the first page faster.

This is an idea that I fully support. It would be effective in at least preventing the level of spam and possible flaming to one thread every week (if this were the given period of time).

I think that's a good idea. This way, we won't have so many threads, and we won't have to post on each and every "AMV" that he comes up with, clearing out the pool. Very nice.

I like it. Though I don't think it will cut down the number of announcements by other members because I don't know of many who release more than 3-5 videos in a year... Maybe pool for 6 months?

6 months is way too much. There's no real problem with the posting of vids by other members, mainly the way Kickass seems to produce so many in a short period of time. 1 week would keep his threads to a minimum. Besides, most other members who release more than one video in a short period of time usually release them in a single thread, as can be seen after cons and the like.
