lets see i have 1 folder where i download all my amvs to... from there they are sorted into folders i will eventually burn to disc... once those folders get over 4gb i stop putting videos in them and make a new folder and start using it..
theres one folder for amvs i plan to keep.. (sometimes depending on how lazy I am, I will end up with 2 or more, but i stop using them once they hit 4+gb)
i have another folder in there for live action videos / non-anime videos it fills slower than the amv one(s)
I have a folder for "meps" which i usually forget to use
i have a folder in there for betas (lots of people tend to send me betas, and for some reason i hold on to them) which eventually gets moved to a different folder in another place...
i have another folder for "hmmmmm stuff" which is for amvs im half and half on keeping... if i dont like an amv i delete it but if im not sure it goes into that folder for later decision... i dont use this folder often.
I have another in there for live movies, rina has sent me some of her class work, and other stuff that is usually convention related.
~~~~~~~~~~~
then i have a whole other structure for my own videos in an entirely different folder - which is long drawn out and way more organized than "other peoples amvs"
I keep most of my source files on my external hard drive if i can, because it has more room than my internal.
Mmmmm, I download new amvs to my desktop. If I want to keep a video, I rename it by Series-Video Title.
My file system->
AMVS->
My videos (self explanitory)
Old Stuff (videos that have been archived on DVD)
And then within the amv folder are all the videos that have been recently downloaded and thus not archived anywhere.
Simple yet effective.
You have downloaded 5193 local videosKionon wrote:I don't get the whole burning to DVD thing. I watch AMVs so frequently, I can't see burning them off. I actually plug them into a playlist and run them in a corner of my screen. Basically the video equivalent of running an mp3 playlist I suppose.
I prune. If a vid has low review, I delete it, because if I keep it, I'll just skip over it when it comes up anyhow. I currently only have 30GBs of AMVs, but I delete maybe 75-90% of what I download in a day, and I download a lot of non-local stuff as well.JaddziaDax wrote:
i like to keep around ones that i might not watch often because i dont want to rely on attempting to dl them again if i happen to want to watch them at some point.. (save some bandwidth? or something O.o)
I do have an archive of videos on my external, that i will watch often...
I have rthem organised?
Lets see 13 seperate random directories across 3 hard drives and about 80 CDs and 15 DVDs all just tossed together, probably with more than a few duplicates
On the other hand
the videos sent in for the AMV Contest I run at Sakura-Con I have them all seperated into directories named for the category they were submitted in, and then before I start work on the final playlist I burn them to archive disks with a txt file for each year made saying which videos are on which disk
Mine is all in one folder, but using a naming convention like this:
[Creator] Source - VideoTitle.suffix
Actually, it only uses the naming convention once every 6 months when I freak out because I can't find a video I wanted to watch and rename all my videos in a wild frenzy.
