Tyler_yj's Style

Post by JazzyDJ » Tue Jul 03, 2007 3:48 pm

I gotta say I love Tyler_yj's visual style. It's absolutely stunning and it's no wonder he won some awards.

I wonder how he does it? What editor does he use?

I'm also very curious as to how long it takes him to produce his video's. He seems to make good time because he's got so many video's. Which makes it even more amazing.

I'd put my money that he uses After Effects because the amount, depth, and detail of visual effects (like the partial scren opacity masking while switching screen location, etc) he does looks lke it would take a year to produce with any other editing program.

Anyone got the low down on how he does what he does? I absolutely love it!

I think some of his video's could use a better song selection but as for his editing style, I absolutely love it!

P.S. I'm open to more video reccomendations using styles like this if you guys feel like linking them! :D

He's not dead so far as I know, ask him directly. Take a look at people's top 100 videos if you want more recommendations.

1) What style? While I think he's got an obvious approach to AMVing, I don't think I would call it a style. His videos certainly don't share a lot of overt elements between them, especially as far as technical things go. I don't think you could pin it down to that or other 'effect' or 'editor' that he uses. More than anything, it has to do with the way he approaches anime and music, and emulating this or other technical aspect of his videos won't get you any closer to 'mastering' his 'style'. If nothing else though, you should probably watch and see what it is you like about his editing and how you could use something visually-similar yourself.

2) Did you ever consider contacting Tyler himself? He's a nice guy and all... he'd tell you more than the peanut gallery here would

I've only seen one video of his (jihaku?) so I can't comment on his style.

I wouldn't say Tyler uses alot of effects. He seems much more accomplished in the use of fast-paced cuts and opacity / transparency layering. He was cool enough to collab with me and several others on the MEP "Alternate Dimensions." His style does stick out if you watch it. 8-)
