Whether it falls into the category or not isn't the issue here. The issue is that it is unproductive. Alright, so then we have to understand exactly what is productive. Productive, as I see it, is a thread that actually goes somewhere rather than just going in really big circles like those threads do. They serve no purpose other than letting, say, ten or so people talk to each other back and forth.

And, rather than argue about this, why don't you just accept that Phade, and many other people, doesn't want those pointless threads around here?

I don't think the mods are going to directly respond to posts very often, but don't think that they aren't there.

And as for spam, if you are debating whether something you've written is spam or not, don't post it. It's pretty simple. If you are debating, then most likely it's not even worth posting.

Then why the devil is the way off topic here?

[MOD]: Because this thread is about mods and the site.

I have acceted that Phade does want "pointless" posts around here. Do you see me posting one word again?

I want to know what is concidered pointless. I didn't consider one word pointless, but alot of other people did. I did consider those AIM chat threads pointsless, but no one less ever seemed to think so.

So I'm asking the mods, sense they are the ones who do the moding, what is concidered pointless. Unless they just like wasting there time deleting thread after thread, it would be a good idea to put up some real guide lines or something so that people know what to is conidered spam and what is concidered "productive."

Spam - an unsolicited advertisement usually in the form of an email or forum post.

Pointless thread - any thread that has no conversational or informational point, usually used to boost a person's post count or just to have their name on the board

Hey,

I would guess that someone is in need of help in explaining the new site rules.

Phade.

I would actually suggest deleting the Off-Topic forums. That is where most of the problems occur and I would argue that they don't serve any real purpose, at least with the AMV community. If people want to talk about off topic stuff they can take it elsewhere.

IMHO, if there is a topic that is a-m-v.org related that isn't listed, they should suggest it to Phade so that he can add it in.

Hey CArnesen,

The OT forums keep OT threads out of the AMV topic threads, thus keeping them clean (in theory).
