Help, Premiere Pro avs Import Problems
Wow, I've been very frustrated today. I've gone from Premiere crashing because of low memory to it not working at all. While trying to resolve the memory issue I installed a few codecs/programs and ended up uninstalling them, that's when Premiere stopped working altogether with my avs files. I am trying to load two different type of files (basically just trying to see if one will work over the other) and getting the same error with both. I'm using the directshowsource script for an .ogm import and a MPEG2Source script for editing directly with vob files (which is how I normally edit). But now I'm getting these errors. I'm using Premiere Pro (Pro 1.0/Premiere 7.0)
"Premiere AVS Plugin Error
Avisynth configuration error or old Avisynth version. Please do a fresh install of a recent version of Avisynth."
I'm using the following:
Avisynth version 2.5 (070518 is on the downloaded exe)
Matroska Splitter
OggSD0995
PremeireAVAPlugin v1.9
DG Index 1.4.9
---So in complete desperation I have uninstalled every codec and Premiere and I have and installed only the above. I still get the same error. As a last resort (saying this because I know it's not the most up to date thing. I installed the codecs/plugin/avisynth from the AMVapp and I get the Premeire error of "the file appears to have no media data".
What concerns me even more is that the tests in AMVapp wouldn't run. Said low memory and closed on all but one, which doesn't make sense with a 3.0ghz and over a gig of ram (of which is more than I had editing with Premiere for my last video).
The avs and .ogm files open and edit fine in VDubMod and on top of that I've tried the direct stream copy of an .avi and imported that into premiere with a codec error. I can't think of anything else to try.
I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what could be wrong. Thanks for any help.

I'd run a RAM test to see if something didn't up and die on you. Also, check what you have running.
Also (as an asside), i'm sorry to say, but 1GB of RAM isn't a lot any more - especially with OSes like VISTA that idle on 1/2 to 3/4 a GB.

When I beta'd Vista, it was worse. It idled at 800mbs. Looks like they slowed it down a little.BasharOfTheAges wrote:I'd run a RAM test to see if something didn't up and die on you. Also, check what you have running.

I'd suggest going up to 2GB of ram, and checking to make sure you have a recent video card. Those too seem to make a good deal of difference. I should know, I'm still running a 1.6ghz AMD Athlon XP and I have no issues with avisynth or Vista.

Yeah, I know I could use more memory, but it still shouldn't be giving me the errors I'm getting. I edited my last video almost a year ago with even less resources on the same computer with the same version of Premiere without a hitch. I'm stumped as to the Avisynth error about not having the latest version when I had just that list of stuff installed (without AMVapp). Then with AMVapp it's memory issues while running the tests and while it's installed I get the "this file appears to have no media" error in Premiere. Either way, nothing is working... I'm simply puzzled as to what to try next.
Ran RAM and HD tests and everything came out clean as well....

I wish I knew. I was installing a couple of programs to record audio from (for something different I was doing) and installed a few different video converters trying to make a DVD from something. But as far as I know no codecs were installed with these programs (I check the installs before actually installing) and even if there were EVERYTHING has been uninstalled as of right now... including deleting temp. files and checking the windows system files for installed codecs that might have been missed by just using add/remove programs. There is nothing left as far as I can tell.
As a side note, I have found one more thing that I'll try tonight when I get home, which is to install the beta AMVapp that I didn't know existed until browsing further and further into the forums. I've actually heard the newest Adobe Plugin sometimes errors out and am hoping the 1.6 coming in the beta AMVapp might correct something, dunno yet though. Thanks.

Yeah, that's the most recent one I have installed right now (1.9) ...I've been reading and it seems there are some bugs with that release and Premiere Pro right now. Like I said, I'm hoping installed the version before it helps, I'll try it and see in a little while. I can't think of anything else it could be. ><
