In my observation, as you advance as an editor, your number of ideas grow while your actual ability to pull them off decreases despite the fact you get better at editing. I think it's heightened self-expectations, not lack of ideas, that kill often off editorsCrackTheSky wrote: I'm still a fairly new editor and I have lots of ideas.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

but as for me, i never go without having atleast 1 active project... even the last time i took a long break from editing, i would force myself to sit down every now and then and atleast put 1 second down on an amv... as for downtime... i dont have time for that..

also, alot of "new editors" also tend to spit out amv after amv (i know i used to when i first started - i even had a job back then) and dont think about the "down time" they just keep making them like machines O.o

After I finish a vid I tend to take alot of down time. Usually because I focus heavily on editing when I make a vid and deny myself the distractions of stuff like games, movies, and such. Plus, I'm fairly picky with which vid idea I'll want to make next. If it's any indication, I'm getting ready to start my next vid and it's been almost 2 months since I finished my last. >.>

My downtime is directly associated with a combination of laziness, lack of motivation, and distance to deadlines. Deadlines are a blessing and a curse. For one, they get me motivated to work on stuff, but 2, if they're far off enough, I always tell myself "eh, i have a few months to do it, i'll work on it later." Until its the night before the deadline and I'm like "oh hey, guess I should start my video."
