Something that made me happy. (More Catholic Church news.) I'm more of an old fashioned catholic. And aside from my questioning organized religion in general, part of the reason I stopped going to church was because even the catholic churches in my area were becoming more like hippie communes than the solemn places of worship that they had always been. Hopefully this comes to pass and a church in my area picks it up. *^_^*

Maybe you're right, but it was still all the modernization touchy feely hippieness in the Catholic churches in my area that kinda turned me away. Not sure if its all the churches, but at least the ones in my area, I know they're trying to appeal to the hip new audience and attract more people. But at the same time, they're losing the old fashioned passion that I'd grown up with and always loved. I thought maybe bringing back the Latin mass might respark my interest. Because it wasn't the faith that lost my interest, it was the general direction the mass, the clergy, the congregation, the religion was going that turned me away. It seemed to be becoming to modernized and mainstream and all touchy feely. If I wanted a modern soft religion, I would have converted already. I don't know. Maybe I'm just better off where I am. Away from church but still believing. But anyway, just thought I'd let you know at any rate.Krisqo wrote:I don't know about bringing SSPX back into the fold. Well, growing up I mostly went to a Baptist Church, but I haven't gone since the end of high school. The only Church they got here is a Lutheran. I just usually went where my parents went. We used to go to a Friends Church and a Covenant (couldn't remember if there was more to the name or anything) Church before that, and I couldn't really tell what's the difference besides minor details. The Baptist Church was loud and sang (or sung, whichever) a buncha recent songs about praising God. The Covenant Church was very orderly and such. The Friends Church was my fav because once the children's service was done we got to go home. They also talked alot about Jesus too, and sang old hymns which I prefer over what the Baptists sang.
I also find it interesting that the History Channel has done a buncha stuff concerning the Bible, the Creation, about Jesus' Life, and the Armageddon and such. I noticed they said that the Creation story may have been "borrowed" from an older religion and had the older and other "gods" turned to demons or something, such as the serpent ma have been one of those older "gods." I also find it interesting that Eve was not the first woman, but Lilith was, as she was created with Adam instead of from Adam. But then Lilith got on Adam's nerves for some reason so she was banished from the Garden and turned into a demon that took children away and stuff like that. So then God created Eve from Adam and Adam was pleased.
I also find it interesting how much of the media portrays God as a Man in a White Robe with a big curly beard an often hiding his face or something.

Lilith wasn't the first either. There was a woman, unnamed, who was created out of dust in front of Adams eyes but he was squimish because her saw her intestines and other insides so wouldn't touch her. God learned the lesson and knocked Adam the fuck out then made Lilith. She wanted to be dominate over Adam (and be on top when they fucked) so clearly she had to go. Eve is the third and final attempt at getting a woman acceptable to both Adam and God.8bit_samurai wrote:I also find it interesting that Eve was not the first woman, but Lilith was, as she was created with Adam instead of from Adam. I'll never understand why women believe something as clearly misogynist as the bible. I mean really, the first one was unacceptable because Adam only wanted surface beauty and couldn't deal with anything underneath. The second was unacceptable because she wanted to be equal. So Eve, a stupid lying slut, was the alternative. No wonder the priests stick to little boys instead of women, clearly women are a lot of fucking work and even after trying repeatedly you're still bound to take a fall and it'll be all her fault.
