actually its the real thing, but the problem is, it wouldn't record to Hard drive without subs and compressed.... its kinda annoying....

so either i need a new DVD ripper, or need new disks (in which case i need money...)

have you tried dvdDecrypter? (included in the amvapp, and from www.doom9.net)
