the good thing about bootlegs

Post by bum » Fri Aug 06, 2004 7:41 am

first off. i in no way suport bootleging, piracy or any of that crap. enough to say that unless its a microsoft product, then piracy/bootlegging is evil :P

anyway. ive bein to a few shops and seen botleg box sets. oh and the music cd's , movies (even recent cinema releases and stuff that was banned here like battle royal) and cencored porn featuring seemingly innocent schoolgirls with perky nipples. anyway, thier is one thing that i actualy like about the bootleg box sets (of anime) . no its not the price. its the box sets. for example, the whole series of berserk in a nice little box with 3 dvd 9's. its, handy to say the least. and if it was the real deal, i would rather pay more for that than the real box set with 7 or so dvd's , in 7 or so cases, in one big box that takes more than a little amount of space. its anoying, honestly. i would just buy the bootleg if it wasnt for the moral issue's. some series come out now in a single case box set. like crest of the stars and niea under 7 (or whatever its called) which come in a singe black dvd case containing all 3 dvd's in an attractive, sturdy case. now that is nice. just having the whole series all their in one case. its neat, its practical. its takes alot less damn space. why cant more anime come out like this ? yeah, i know that some people like showing off their large colection of anime dvd's in racks on a wall or somethig. but honestly, wouldnt it just be beter to have a smaller product ?

I know what you mean. The packaging for my bootlegs(I didn't know they were at the time) is great. As a matter of fact with the only non-bootleg I had, the little prongs that hold the DVD in place broke off and scrached it up to no end.

LOL, yeah, I know what you mean.

My friend has a bootleg version of One Piece, and although the subs are terrible, it is a five disc fold up set that looks really nice and takes up hardly any space. Not to mention that it has about six episodes per disc on it, maybe more.

Here I am wondering when this topic will get locked. But I agree that bootlegs do save an enourmous amount of space. I once saw a box set for a collection of show DVD`s with 8 discs. The bootleg was 2 DVDs.

depends what box sets you get really....the sets wiv the english dubbin featured has the subs remastered...but i do agree that bootleg versions are good...especially the price & the space it takes up....i also love the artistc features on & inside the folding case....
i think it is outragous bout the prices they put in retail....especially compared to the amount of episodes per dvd (3-5) over in the UK dvds are £20 per dvd (bout $37) & theres a bout 6 - 9 dvds per series.. thats £120 - £180 ($222 - $333) so you tell me if that's worth getting...people keep talkin bout morals about supporting the anime firms (ie ADV).....but come to think of it...do we really need them around just to get anime? i mean its not like they create the anime series....just remake them which costs bout $0.04 & den sell them for around $30....for them its mainly about profit....especially since anime is booming in the US...i'd personally rather support that bootlegged version which is about promoting anime....& its closer to the original contex...not the american..... but that's jus me tho...i apologize to those who finks im wrong...i dont want to make an arguement about it

Hmm, don't really have any views on bootlegging except the people that bootleg AND sponge off welfare/social security or whatever you want to call it, should be shot.

That's OUR hard earned money and taxes they are getting for free, and they are using it to fund their piracy literally earning thousands a week.

But as far as Microsoft goes, I don't care. Bill Gates has made his money the world over, he undoubtedly could pay his staff for a lifetime and still have millions.

I always would run a legit copy of Windows though until a few days ago...

I installed some new hardware, like you do and I got a message prompting me to re-register XP, I thought OK, so I went ahead and tried it.

I got this:

I was irate, there was no warning or literature that warns you only get a limited amount of installs. Heck is it my fault their software is flawed and requires a reinstall every so often? NO!

So I've got a legit copy of Windows ME and XP, all my drives are now NTFS, and there is NO way I'm moving back to ME, a 4GB file limit would ruin my day and put an end to my amv editing.

So hell, I own 2 of their operating systems, why should I buy something I already have through no fault of my own?

I'll be installing a cracked, sligtly buggy Windows XP corporate edition if I manage to get my system up and running. Ah revenge.

Well depending on the company, obviously bootlegs would require less dvds, since they probably don't come out with a Volume 1 + box *cough* ADV *cough*

The whole point of that is to milk more money out of you. Heck, they even upped the standard 6 dvd box to a 7 dvd box. :x

Of course with all those extra episodes crammed on it'll take away the show's visual quality. Unless they use those double-sided DVDs.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!!!!

I just got done wiping my computer and I didn't want to register it because I am probably going wipe it again soon and I swear, if it doesn't work, I will.....I'll............send Microsoft a nasty letter.

No, but seriously, I will be PISSED!
