Yu Yu Hakusho [Genkai] **SPOILERS**

So, has anybody been watching it on Cartoon Network's Toonami at 9:30 pm Eastern opn Saturdays? If you've seen it recently, the Dark Tourtment just finally ended.

Genkai (sp?) died during the torutment, yet then she came back to live. o.0? Er, perhaps I missed something, but...how and why? ^^; Just curious.

I happy she's back, but...it kinda makes everything after she died pointless, sorta. ^^;

She was always going to be brought back - Toguro never would have killed her if he thought she would remain dead (he still loved her, the memory of her younger self, at least). The plan was - if Toguro won, he'd wish her back. If Yusuke's team won, of course they'd wish her back. The winner of the Dark Tournament gets *anything* he wants - that's how Toguro became 'immortal' (aka a demon who doesn't get old) - by winning the tournament in the past and wishing for it as his prize. Once Yusuke won (and they're standing watching the place blow up) someone mentions the prize - Botan, I think, and Yusuke says there's only one thing he wants but he doesn't think he'll get it. Of course, he gets it since the winner gets anything he wants - so she gets brought back. But she hangs around in the spirit world for one last talk with Toguro.

As for the rest being pointless, not at all. If Toguro hadn't killed her, Yusuke wouldn't have been very strong (he'd have had to 'kill' Kuwa and everyone else to give Yusuke that extra motivation). And Toguro wouldn't have had that final talk with her in the spirit realm - which settles his fate. Her death was a plot device - screw with Yusuke's head and make him snap because characters who snap are stronger. Toguro planned it nicely. And since no one but Genkai, Koenma, and Toguro realized she was coming back, it worked to motivate Yusuke. And really, Yusuke was all that mattered since he was the one who'd have to kill Toguro.
