It might help if you listed the shows you've already seen, so people don't suggest them. As for the ones you listed, I've seen about the first 4 episodes of Full Metal Panic, and I liked what I saw. It seems that up to the point I saw, the mech was mostly in the background, i.e. not a major focus of the story. That could change though.

I just picked up the first dvd of Neo Ranga yesterday, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet. It takes a little getting used to, as the episodes are only 15 mins long. I like it so far, and I think it has potential. Nice art too.

I won't suggest any other shows 'til you post what you've already seen. No sense in wasting space, right?

I heard that Chobits was an okay series. Other one's i liked that you might wanna check out would be Love Hina, and Neon Genesis(you prolly already saw this). You might also wanna check out Ah! My goddess if you like love hina.

Chobits and FMP are both fall-on-your-ass hilarious.

If you like sci-fi, Blue Gender is kinda cool. I only have the first DVD, but I intend to get the rest of the series, it's pretty interesting. If you like sci-fi with a deeper drama, can't go wrong with Crest of the Stars. One of the best anime series I've seen.

Then there's Lodoss War and Berserk if you like fantasy (and Slayers, though that's more of a comedy). But off of your list I've only seen Chobits and FMP. Both are great shows.

Yuu Yuu = Flame of Recca + DBZ

I'm all about Saikano personally. Both massive and crinos! My god I'm so blowing a phat stack for the R2s!
Full Metal Panic is gold, but Full Metal Panic Fumoffu is just freakin’ historical. Worth every penny!
Green Green TV, good but most disturbing! I haven’t seen the OVA(s) so I’m clueless there.

Others:
Chobits (Chibits I’m sorry to say bored me)
Flame of Recca
Excel Saga (Laugh till you can’t, then laugh some more)
Gundam Seed
GTO
Hellsing (just bad ass if you like vampire movies)
There are tons more but I’m bored…

Ai Yori Aoshi reminds me of Love Hina, however better. I like the atwork, the first few eps and the introduction. The comedy stuff are so-so okay

Other than those I recommend Macross Zero, but you can only obtain it from fansubs or r2 dvd. #3 should be available early december.

Gunslinger Girls. Keep your eyes on this one, folks... It sounds liek a real winner. Not subbed yet, but I know of at least one group that' slooking into it.

Also, although it's not new, Mamotte Shugogetten is being released in high quality digital format finally by "After 2000 Anime". Episode 1 hit the net a couple days ago. You should definitely check it out, especially if you've seen/plan on seeing the "Denchin Mamotte Shugogetten" OVA, since the TV series comes before the OVA.
