Safe Anime?

Post by anime_junkie » Sat Sep 13, 2003 11:59 am

My library is FINALLY looking to put mangas in the graphic novels section and they have put me in charge of it. I can really use some suggestions here... Remember, they have to be SAFE

No nudity
Min. Swearing as possible
. Preferibly none, but you know how it goes...

Sooooo..... Anybody got ideas?
true friends stab you in the front.

Well that depends, because most manga has different themes suggested in it.

Hmm...for example I could say Cardcaptor Sakura (which fits above requirements) however that has some shonen ai in it. Which may come off as "un safe" ( )

Perhaps Magic Knight Rayearth? Clamp School Detectives is harmless (kinda) but most of the stuff that I read and am interested in, has "adult themes" in them like rape, violence, the occasional swearing, sexual connotations etc etc..but maybe that's just my general interest and age level...

Hmmm...

G-Unit (or, as it was released in the US - Gundam: The Last Outpost) fits those requirements

plus, the Bebop manga (both original and Shooting Star) could work (a bit of swearing, and some violence, but otherwise good)

Shouldnt really be a problem, every library has plenty of books that have violence and adult situations, manga is just putting down the pictures that people would otherwise put together for themselves.

Some ones to consider might include Di Gi Charat, Kodocha, Maison Ikkoku, Saint Tail, and Tokyo Mew Mew. As far as I can remember, those don't have anything objectionable in them.

onegai teacher is pretty good, a bit perverted but i think its acceptable. many teen novels have sex themes to it.

Oh! My Goddess, same thing.

As mentioned before, Cowboy Bebop is okay. i remember it had a swear word or two.

Real Bout High School? unless you cud say that it encourages in school violence...
