Either way we won't see nothing for awhile :P
Yeah I was at ACen2002 where they announced it and let's see, that was 1.5 years ago and it's still in "pre production." Like I said earlier, I think Media Blasters is full of shit. They're not the most reputable distributor in the states.

The fact 1.5 years later nothing has been said pretty much confirms (to me) that they were just lying or making shit up.

Like I said earlier, the longer you wait, the less likely a sequel. I mean Berserk aired in Japan nearly 4 or 5 years ago. People have forgotten about it. Just because it came out here and is mildly popular means nothing. It's those Japanese who determine things and they like their Gundam Seed just fine :P

Though that was announced, look at this:

Acen 2002

Additionally, Media Blasters confirmed that a second season of Berserk is entering pre-production. However, due to its extremely violent nature, it is uncertain if any Japanese TV stations will be willing to air

9-1-03

Regarding the possibility of further episodes of Berserk being created, according to Mr. Sirabella, the company is "willing to put up plenty of money" to finance such a project. However, no further information is available at this time.

BTW both those are from Anime News Network. Whats the point you ask? This is the point, why is it that in the first announcement at Acen did they say they were in pre production, but then in September of 2003, the only thing they had to say was that they were willing to spend money on it? It leads one to believe that they were not in pre production but only had the idea to make an extension, which as a far cry from actually being in pre production.

Damn looks like DW beat me to the punch, oh well I'll still post it.

Well most shows are probably in pre-production for awhile >_> I mean the new tenchi ovas took their sweet time and only 1 of them is out :\ Plus didn't they make the escablowne movie mainly for american audiences? (or so I heard) Not that I'd want something like that to happen to berserk :P

Guts marches to Griffiths castle, they ready for battle then Rickket kicks Griffiths shin and he dies. The end...

As I said earlier, I think this just furthers my point that Media Blasters is full of shit like always.

If Pre-production means "thinking about it" then I've been in pre-production for my super-uber-anime-to-end-all-anime since I was 13

In any case, the Escaflowne movie wasn't made for US audience. It did pretty decently in Japan's theaters which would imply there was demand.

However, I do agree with the suckitude of teh ending...never said I loved the movie...only the series :)

Anyways i agree with you. Esca Series > Esca Movie.

*steers thread back on course.

Ok, about this whole issue: I have a feeling that kakashi might be (even unintentionally) correct. An announcement WAS made, and one other person even brought forth additional information. It was also stated that the powers to be WANT to make a second season, but have yet to get the ball rolling (info from Sept, not the latest obviously). Yes it might seem strange that this news came from an american distributor, but its possible that on the japanese side the contracted company might have marketing reasons to keep this project fairly low profile (as it is still a long way off). Meanwhile, the dubbing side, who is (obviously) NOT making this anime, has little reason to hide the details they have been given. Their mentality very well could have been: "I mean, the details are pretty sketchy anyway, how much could it hurt?"
Saying that someone said "We wanna make it" is nothing close to "an official announcement." You're obviously not reading this thread too closely since he CONTINUALLY kept saying there was an "official announcement" of a second season and all of us retorted with "nu uh...prove it." and they didn't...time and time again.
I did read this thread closely, maybe instead you should read my post closer. I never said "official." All I'm saying is that the interest is there, and I didn't exactly guarantee that this information was legitimate. I'm not on Kakashi's side, I'm trying to be neutral, because this Na'ha! Yeah'ha bullshit is just to childish, dont you think? All I'm saying is try to have an open mind, and understand that even though this may not happen at all, it has taken its baby steps. Theres nothing in this thread that gives me confidence that Berserk season 2 will come out, but hey, cant a guy be an optimist for once? If you think an optimist is always a sucker then you have a very pessimistic mind.

That being said, I'm estimating at this point that Berserk S2 has about a 30% probability of occuring, (based on the interest on one hand, and the Pussyfootedness and inaction on the other) and of course as Chang said, this probability will decrease with accumulated time.
