Try again...that lists the first of the McKinney novels as being published in 1987 (2 years after Robotech's premiere and more to the point, 4 years after Macross's initial airing.)

Oh man no one mentioned it yet, I mean it's not bad but in my opinion you gotta love Zoids. I mean mechs based on animals etc. It's just too cool. Also, I'd have to say that Gundam Wing and Evangelion are on my tops too.

i guess zoids would be ok, but it kinda was a little cheezy, but it was ok, i watched it for a few episodes. better than the transformers shows.

Not even a question. Super Dimensional Fortress Macross. The VF-1 transforming fighter is still amazing to this day. If you doubt it I say check out Macross Zero if you can get a copy of it from Japan. Utterly astounding from top to bottom.
