Recomendations for dark anime

X the seris is much more invloved than the film.
beresk is good and i agree that the anime is no where near as violent as the anime.

Um manga i would recomend:
Akria
Battle Angel Alita
Blade of the imortal

But then what do you class as Dark..
Violence or twisted plots.
Yes hellsing is full of blood and guts, but i would not say it "freaks" people out.

One that hasn't been mentioned yet, DevilLady. I thought it was a good dark B-TV series. Not many Vids on that one, but if your looking for some dark anime with blood then it would do. Thinking of working on an AMV for this series although I've already done one horror and looking to do something different.

Another Dark Anime can be found in the just released Memories movie, Magnetic Rose. Its not that dark but it does have a good atmosphere, ever see Kevin Caldwells Phantom of the Opera, thats it.

I wold recommend Samurai X: Trust, and Samurai X: Betrayal, since the story of it is deep, but i'm not sure to call it dark.

then there is the others that have been mentioned, Hellsing, Blod the Last Vampire, Vampire Hunter D, etc

I personally find Hellsing to be hilerious at times

One of the funnest parts has to be the fight between Alucard and THe Valentine brother in the lower levels of the Hellsing estate.

I think Devil Lady wasn't mentioned cause it was stupid. Not Dark. I wish he would have stopped at Devilman cause he obviously wasn't serious about making a female version.

Inu Yasha isn't generally "dark", but it has its moments of uber-spookiness.

I'm yet to see an actualy scary anime. Sure theres dark stuff out there, but dark is a relativly vague term. if you want a dark manga read "Confiential Confessions" that is some seriously disturbing shit.

but for anime ... theres the usual.

Hellsing
Berserk
Perfect Blue (dark on the same lines as CC)
Lain is pretty dark but follows CC's darkness, jsut not as closley
Twilight of the dark master was ok, far from great, but tollerable.
Blood Reign was not good, but you might find some merit in it.

err thats all i feel like thinking about at the moment.
