Well...since the thread's back (...again) might as well make the most of it.
Personally, my issue with EVA's Christan refs was a different issue. In particular the fact people get so caught up with one element of the show that one of the producers went on record as saying they actually only put in there so it wouldn't wind up being 'just another mecha' series, and then went on to say that had they known it would get licensed for the US, they might not have used the Christian stuff afterall.
In short, I find it pretty sad that people get worked up over something the staff openly admitted was mainly just a plot device used to distinguish the series.
(Then again, I also have issue with the fact people proclaim it as completely original mainly because most of the titles it does pay homage to simply haven't been released yet...from what I've seen/read, I've spotted nods to Yuusha Raideen, Aura Battler Dunbine, and Space Runaway Ideon, throughout the series.)
That said, my votes for worst series:
-Aura Battler Dunbine OVA - Tale of Neo-Byston Well (...don't get me wrong, I love the original series...which, I guess, is part of why I was so amazed at just how much of a let-down the sequel was.)
-Macross II: Lovers Again (One of the few DVDs I've bought that I'm contemplating reselling...almost purely on the merits of that horrendous final episode... ...and people think Macross 7 was bad?)
-Inu Yasha (...I liked this show once...then I just got burnt out on it...there's only so many times Naraku can cheat death before you think 'JUST KILL HIM ALREADY SO WE CAN MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE!!!!')
and
-some parts of the Animatrix (for me these would be:
*Final Flight of the Osiris (...looks nice, yes, but not really much else to it)
*The Second Renaissance (between the repeated attempts to manipulate audience emotions, a story which manages to cram more holes into 20 minutes than most writers can do in 26 episodes, and a depiction of both sides to such extremes that it gives a 'style over substance' feel, the whole thing's just lost on me...)
*Kid's Story (...wasn't a fan of the kid in the movies, not a fan of him here)
*Program (...again, it looks very nice, but storywise it's rather...eh...)
and
*Matriculated (OK...I was willing to look the other way with Reign because, horrendous animation aside, the story was actually kind of interesting...here...the concept had promise...but the execution...))
...that's just me talking here
