I like .hack//sign. As for the timeline I think it goes like this:
.hack//sign
.hack//liminality (ova 1)
.hack//infection (ps2 game)
.hack//liminality (ova 2)
.hack//mutaion (2nd ps2 game)
.hack//liminality (ova 3)
.hack// (3rd ps2 game, forgot name)
anybody correct me if I'm wrong here.
Whats with .Hack//Sign

In order:
.hack AI Buster
.hack//SIGN
.hack//GAME//LIMINALITY
.hack//DUSK (aka .hack//LEGEND)
AI Buster is a short novel.
SIGN is the first TV series
The GAMES and LIMINALITY (the OVA) are released together. The games I believe take place where the previous volume left off without a time gap. LIMINALITY runs concurrently to the game (although I don't think the events line up perfectly as the OVA is charecter based so vol 1 of LIMINALITY might cover more or less time than vol 1 of the game). LIMINALITY covers the events of .hack in the real world.
DUSK (some call it LEGEND) takes place a few years after the games and is the latest TV series.

Just finished watching Episode 1: Roleplay on Cartoon Network. I'm pleased that it is not edited at all. Although, right now I'm sure however many young people are having trouble understanding what it's about.
The dubbed voices are spot on I'm wowed that Bandai managed to scrounge up such appropriate sounding voice actors. Even the NPC merchant sounds very similar to his Japanese counterpart. It definately helps since the .hack//SIGN is an audial work of art as well. I'm thinking of reuploading my Lovesick Signs AMV to celebrate the successful translation. I'll but the last version up for now and Expect a slightly more up to date version of it to be up later tonight, after I tweak with it a little bit.
