I got into Sailor Moon back when it was in syndication... back when i was in 8th grade (wow that was like 8-9 years ago...) I just turned on the tv one day and there it was. At first I was just like... "wtf... this is so... DUMB." But I just watched it anyways as I had nothing better to do. Over the days I would occasionally catch another episode or 2, and before I knew it, I was HOOKED. I had to get my fix every single weekday right after school. Then the unthinkable happened, and it was pulled off the air! Oh woe was me, never before had I felt such attatchment to a tv program. But time went on, and I eventually got hooked up to the internet. I discovered that sailor moon had a huge following online, and I learned all about the show, eventually stumbling onto the Save Our Sailors site, where I learned that the show would be coming to USA weekdays at 8:30am or something. So as any good sailor fanboy, I went out and bought a new VCR so I would be able to record the program everyday. All was fine and well, till once again, it got pulled off the air. Around this time, I discovered Dragonball Z being played on saturday mornings, and I started watching that. And I eventually started purchasing some anime through a TRSI catalogue that I got in the mail. Once I bought Evangelion, that was when I knew I was hooked for life...

i remeber that day like i lived it yesterday. i was young, it was statureday, and my dad was trying to find some "cartoons" for me the watch he left it on the sci-fi channel and left. thats when i fell in love with anime it was vampirer hunter d. then after that i saw a movie with zeram in it, and i started to watch sailor moon. then i decided that i must own it all to my self. so when i got enuff money i went out and got "battle angel" that was the first of miny of my collection and now sits behide a glass container... sweet, sweet anime

Anime memories
The very first I can remember was Kimba the white lion. I used to be fascinated with it but it came on at some oddball time and I didn't get to see much of it. (I was in 1st grade at the time...about '72) Next was Speedracer and it made me an absolute gadget junkie. (Still want all of the push-button options I can load into a car.
)
Somwhere in my pre-teens I got hit with a triple-whammy. Starblazers was cool only because of the ship but I thought 'Battle of the planets' sucked badly. (Is this how teens are supposed to look?) Galaxy 999 was pretty much a final nail in the coffin...just too wierd for me at the time.
About 1988 I got into the fur scene and occasionally ran across stuff inspired by manga and anime. A friend and I went to an anime festival at a local theater and I got a wide-eyed look at 'modern' anime. (And my first experience with tentacles!)
About '93 I was sitting in the anime room at the MARCON convention and they filled a gap between shows with a handfull of AMVs and I've been fascinated with the concept ever since. (My favorite was 'Trigger Happy' by Wierd Al but I've never seen it again in that version.

Tsk tsk, If you visit in the summer I'm dragging you shopping with me.Madokai wrote:I *almost* bought the NGE DVD box set... for a good price too... >.< sadly I didn't have $80 at the time, and I still don't, and I doubt it's still on the shelf.
But this is really cool reading how everyone got started on the stuff ^_^. Keep replying. Kirby says so! <(^_^)>
As you probably remember, Sailor Moon for moi, but when I started watching it I didn't know the distinction between anime and cartoons. Later, when I knew better, I started watching...Sailor Moon S and basically got myself back into it. Though I think you played a key part in getting me into action animes *thinks* IIRC I bought Ninja Scroll on your recommendation...that was one of the first non-moonish animes I bought.
(If you can't tell yet, I know him and Modakai what is your avatar from? oO)

^_^ Nice to see you (In one sense of the word).
Yea my avatar is from Ghost in the Shell (my current favorite anime movie). Motoko Kusanagi is way cool. The manga is WAY cool too... if you don't read the manga you are not doing it justice. Although I like Batou and Fuchikoma more than Motoko, I couldn't find any cool pics to make an avatar from... just crappy scans. Anyways everyone is cool in Ghost in the Shell.
AND SINCE YOU HAVE IT YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE!!! GO WATCH IT!! ^_^

I saw Samurai Pizza Cats first, then DBZ, then Sailor Moon, but what really got me into anime was Princess Mononoke, because then I had to see Kiki's Delivery Service, then I had to see Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro, and pretty soon I was seeking out anime. Then we got cable, and I got pretty much hooked.

First anime I saw was Ninja Scroll. Later I saw two AMVs, one with Evangelion and another with Sailor Moon, I was intrigued. Then I saw the Eva series and I was hooked.
Right now I'm watching Boogipop Phantom, very good, a little strange, stuff. 8)
