You're right. A lot is different, but the anime still got most of it right and the feel is the same (IMO).MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:I have read up to volume 24, the manga is very much different from the anime. A good example of this is the fact that Pakk wasn't introduced in the series. If they do make a second season, they need Pakk. He is the sole reason that Guts has stayed sane as well as alive. Besides he is the only comic relief in the series. BTW the series goes up to volume 16 or so. But like I said above the manga and series is different. I hope they make a second season but it will be kinda hard. I want to see the second battle between Guts and Zodd animated.
As for Pakk, I thought he came *after* the eclipse and thus why he's not in the show (although maybe he should be in Episode 1).
I do warn you guys though that the manga gets *very* dark after the eclipse and there are some fairly explicit sexual scenes. Given, the last few episodes implied all this.

He does come after the Eclipse, but I know that they didn't want to put him in since they replaced him with a little girl in the beginning. The manga starts with Gutts saving Pakk from a group of thugs in a tavern. In the anime a girl is used in his stead.dwchang wrote:You're right. The one thing that really made me mad about the anime as compared to the manga is the fact that they never said why Gutts didn't like to be touched in the anime. In the manga you know why, after he is basically sold as a whore to another man, hence not wanting to be touched.dwchang wrote:I do warn you guys though that the manga gets *very* dark after the eclipse and there are some fairly explicit sexual scenes. Yup! I might also add in the first episode they show these little kids being carted off and if you remember in the show or read the manga, you know where they're going...:groan:MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:The one thing that really made me mad about the anime as compared to the manga is the fact that they never said why Gutts didn't like to be touched in the anime. IIRC they also go further into his past...not THAT much more, but more. Like you know that he was a baby that survived after his mother was hung and that is his very nature...to survive. IIRC he was actually BORN while his mother was hung or something ?_?. It's been awhile.

Wasn't Pakk that fairy creature that Ricket (I think thats the kids name) saw when he went to get water for the wounded, and then again when he returned to the group to find everyone had been eaten by demons. After I read the continueing manga and found Rickit had survived I just presumed that Pakk and the Skull Knight had something to do with his survival.. instead of just the Skull Knight.

The fairy creature you speak of is another character. She is the basis for the lost children arc in the manga. I wont say anymore so I dont give anything away.
Pakk was the fairie that Gutts saves from a group of bandits in a tavern. He later joins up with Gutts, providing comic relief to the series as well as saving Gutts life a few times (healing powers). Pakk is by far my favorite character in the series. Besides Casca, Pakk is really the only thing that keeps Gutts cemented in reality at times. If it weren't for him, Gutts would have lost it and more than likely gotten himself killed.

hey,
anyone know y they stopped the series at ep 25 instead of doing a normal 26 ep series??
they probally could have explained a lot more in another ep.

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room, munching pills, and listening to repetitive music~Kristian Wilson, CEO, Nintendo Gaming Corporation

Literally, just to spite us. I'm serious, they wanted people to go out and buy the manga.ZeWrestler wrote:hey,

The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
