You say that different actors popping up in different sub versions is annoying you, but don't different dubs share voice actors as well? I know the Lain dub and the Outlaw Star dub share several. Melfina is Lain, Jim is Taro, Gene is one of the government agents, and Aisha is Reika. Also, Petrea Burchard, who plays Ryoko in the Tenchi dub, is Lains mom. Spike's dub VA played Roger Smith on Big O, and Celestine on the Oh My Goddess movie. Wendee Lee played Cowboy Bebop's Faye Valentine and Big O's Angel, as well as Suzuka on Outlaw Star, Love Hina's Kaolla Su, Tia Note Yoko on Bastard, and Yui on Fushigi Yugi, among others.

Hell...the 2001 dub of Akira is loaded with "sounds familiar" VAs...
Wendee Lee as Kei, whoever does Gene on Outlaw Star also dubs Ryu, the new dub voice for Admiral Delaz (Gundam 0083) is Mr. Nezu, I know there's more I'm forgetting (oh yeah, also David Lucas (aka Spike, Roger Smith) does the voice of the hospital attendant Tetsuo smears all over the walls (and ceiling)
