Couple Quick Questions

Post by sweetstarfire » Thu Sep 09, 2004 5:30 pm

Assume i'm a total newb, which you will anyway:

There are several Gundam series, right? So, are SD Gundam and Gundam Seed two different shows, or is one title an abbreviation of the other?

Also, is the dub of Witch Hunter Robin any good? If it's complete crap I won't bother watching.
-Are children who act in rated 'R' movies allowed to see them?
-Do they have girl’s bathrooms in gay bars?

Gundam SEED and SD Gundam are two VERY different breeds of series...

And for the record, there are actually two SD Gundam series

The first was a straight-up parody of the UC titles, it was quite funny, but sadly the humor's a bit esoteric, so if you're not familiar with UC, a lot of the humor's kind of lost.

Then there's SD Gundam Force...which was prettymuch made to sell purely on CN...suffice to say...it hurts to watch.

Is SD Gundam Force the one with the "cute chibi" Gundam?

Didn't really watch it; scary to Gundam connoisseurs to say the least.

Surprisingly, I didn't think the WHR dub was that bad. I kind of preferred it over the original Japanese, not because it sounded better, but because the subtitles were moving so fast...
...
Yea, I'm like that...

Well... to be fair, both SD Gundam and SD Gundam Force sport 'cute chibi' Gundams...

I think the easiest way to differentiate them:

Original SD Gundam = Early 90s animation, slightly risque humor, clearly played completely for laughs

SD Gundam Force = Cel-shaded CGI animation, younger target audience, the shows tries to (to an extent) take itself seriously...

Then I'm most definitely talking about SD Gundam Force.
What a travesty...
