I'd just like to add that I HAVE seen both Gasaraki and Eva all the way trough. If I hadn't then I wouldn't have posted anything in this thread. It's unfair to judge two things, whether it be anime OR amv's, without seeing both first. I had that happen to me with one of my amv's in this forum a while back...

Actually, the early episodes of Gasaraki (atleast episode 3) were quite unrealistic.
In episode three for instance, they sent a tank thrust against the capital of Belgistan. No serious commander would ever in a million years even DREAM of sending a tank column into a city without scouring the whole place with infantry and eliminating all enemies. Tactical doctrine states that such moves are suicidal, it's been proved time and again on the battlefield. It's interesting that they were all worried about getting taken out by TAs when ordinary rocket launchers could easily do the same in a city environment.
Another thing that was strange was that they had no air support like a REAL MILITARY would have. And of course the enemy TAs had no trouble hitting the tanks who were in that highly realistic formation where they were all bunched together like cars in a parking lot. Who in the hell would put the tanks in that kind of formation!? An air strike could have easily taken out their entire fleet.
I guess this is what happens when someone ignores realism and throws in some token, phoney combat scenes to appease the masses. The fighting in Gasaraki is almost Rambo-esque! Racism also played a role. The Japanese still cannot believe that they lost to foreign barbarians like the Americans and so they sometimes throw scenes into anime where Americans either look stupid and inept, are blown to shit, or both.
