Question concerning El Hazard

OK, long story short. Recently got into watching the original El Hazard OVA, planning on trying to get this series which leads to the question: Is it possible to find this series in individual DVDs? Only format they'll sell it in here is the boxset with the second OVA

Sadly... that's the only way to get El Hazard.

You have to buy the box with the awful 2nd OAV.

Honestly... while I think the original 7 EP OAV is a fantastic series (and is on my top 10 all time favorite anime)

I think all other El Hazard titles (the 2nd OAV and the Wanderers) are just plain junk. I can't speak about the El Hazard:Alternative World, because I never saw an episode. My stomach was so sorely turned by the 2nd OAV and the Wanderers that I just jumped to the conclusion that The Alternative World would suck donkey as well.

Alternative world is typical anime disapointing ending crap. Good story then plot holes are left open and a quick ending applied. El hazzard 2 sucks donkey balls. I find the wanderers to be much better to watch than the magnificent world. Jinai is funnier and Ifurita is much cuter and the plot is better. This however does not mean I hate the original oav. I'm just glad that they get rid of the freakin lesbians. It's kind of like the same thing with Tenchi Universe vs tencho muyo. They work out the bugs in the oav series and then release a better version for Tv.

Not a shock at all to hear that from you.

Not only does it have your typical homophobic viewpoints,
but...
seeing how El Hazard The Wanderers and Tenchi Univers take well crafted story lines and well crafted characters that existed in the OAVs and dumbed them down to stupid, repulsive 2 dimensional versions of the characters with simplistic, near idiotic plot points where all the charmand originality of the shows are removed for lowest common denominators with the simple goal of whoring the quality of the originals into a more commerical and generic version.

The Tenchi TV series was poor, but El Hazard - The Wanderers is on my top 10 of worst animes ever made... and transforming Ifurita into C-Ko with a big gun is downright offensive.

That's what I was afraid of...ah well...worse comes to worse I can always buy the boxset and then put the 2nd OVA up on Ebay (chances are someone out there would buy it...)

Nice reaction there Milo! I give you a 9.5! Anyway sorry El hazzard is a good show which ever way. I don't think they dumbed down the characters just made more likeable ones. I know you lack a sense of humor so that probably bothers you. If you are going to have lesbians in a show at least have hot wackable ones. Not some freaky half pint midget and an ugly as sin dyke.

Yeah, I really wish they had spent more time dealing with the whole lesbian thing, after all El Hazard did such a good job of avoiding lesbian stereotypes...
Indeed, if you want to learn about homosexuals, there's no place better to start than anime
