Free ops for 1 condition

Post by Yok/0 » Mon Oct 29, 2007 2:02 pm

I will op as many videos you want me to op as long you follow this rule.

Tell me something that I could learn from your amv. It can be anything as long it relates to amv. Concepts optional -_-.

I don't need an op, but on my Karas video, I screwed up the aspect ratio so bad that the moon looked like an egg and I never even noticed it. Thanks to Jaddziadax for showing me this, I managed to fix it before I got too far into it.

So, lesson to you, find out what the aspect ratio is for EVERY source file and make sure you match it. Try not to resize too much, mostly crop if you need.

-You can learn something about strong not obvious content, you´ll have to read the pdf in the video information page to fully understand it xD
-It´s a good example of good use of the effect "fractal noise" imo. Most of the particle stuff is made for example with this effect. Good parts to see this are at:
0:10 and (around)2:25
If you´ve seen the anime it´s obvious.
-You can see how manipulating colours with blending modes can look like. Most of the scenes around 3:20 have a combination of blending modes and effects to make this colours look more special and neat (if you ask me).

Have fun!

Talking about aspect ratio:
My experience say: Avoid wrong aspect ratio and never make 4:3 into 16:9 (looks terrible).

But what´s about 16:9 to 4:3? Well I did with the link that I gave you. The amv itself is 4:3 and the scenes from FullMetalPanic-Fumoffu are resized to 4:3. Check out the scenes and make your own opinion if it looks ok or whatever. The credits scenes are originaly in 16:9.

Well, thanks for the op, I'll let you know that I had big plans for that one, I had the storyboard going and all my effects ready. After I changed it for the 15th time I said "screw this!", I lost at least 83 hours of my life at 3 or 4 hours a night.

I forget what my original intent was. BTW, your op dropped my 21 positions on the Top Videos 6 months category, I don't mind, it's all fun.
 :D

Oh, I'll let you know that storyline and action videos don't seem to mix, people look at the effects and loses the essence of your video. If you go effects, go for a shorter song, keep the effects shorter in duration but keep it coming.
That's what I see, people like.

For storyline videos, I'd say use a song with clear lyrics and that you can follow the story and the lyrics. I'd recommend this video:

I HATED this song until she made this video, lyrical to a point but quite fetching.
