WIP - Untitled beta
Ok, here's a beta for you guys to test, if you're interested:
Wip[Xvid].Avi.Zip by Bigupload.Com
It's only about 30 seconds long. I want to know the basic stuff, like your initial thoughts, is the sync good, should I sync to things I'm not synching to, etc. As always keep in mind that the video's size/quality here does not reflect the final version, so please don't mention either.
I also would like to know your feelings on the effects - namely, should I be using more? I'm breaking my own rule here and doing an all-out technical video, and I want to know if you think the second half of the beta is lacking in the effects department (I personally think it is, but I don't know whether I should put more in because I come from a standpoint of someone who doesn't like too many effects).
Any help, criticism, praise, whatever is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

:06 - :11 could have more stuff happening, the awakening scene doesn't quite fit imo. (it's good for a quick flash, but you might want to consider putting in another clip)
the light bars are good, but it could be better if you more accuarately timed it to the guitar (I think you were trying to cover the bass guitar with that)
:08-:11, I don't think that clip belongs there. It could have potential somewhere else.
:23, missed opportunity, might want to put in an overlay or other effect
I think the effects you have are well used, and I can't think of anything else.
(I'm from the school of thought that effects should be used to add some meaning to the vid instead of just for the sake of having effects)

I'm going to have to agree with Kariudo, for the most part.
The whole :08 - :11 thing did seem a bit out of place. I've never seen the source footage, so I can't suggest anything there.
I also thought that the :21 - :23 section could have something else there other than it flying upwards, but that's just me.
Other than that, I like it... Quite a bit, actually. Now I'm curious to see what it goes into.

Always fun to beta your 3 second segments, sky
Seriously, you need more movement, whether you get it from effects or better clip selection. The pacing of the video does not match the pacing of the audio.
I'm already intrigued by the concept, though, whether you admit there is one or not
Now for that World Taken Apart op...

Thanks for the help so far guys, I really appreciate it.
The light bars I also am working on giving some sync with the music.
I'm definitely prone to agree with the segment from 0:08-0:11, and that will be changed.Kariudo wrote::06 - :11 could have more stuff happening, the awakening scene doesn't quite fit imo. (it's good for a quick flash, but you might want to consider putting in another clip)

Because you mentioned it, I'm starting not to like the scene at 0:21-0:23. That will also be modified in some way, if not completely replaced.jonnkakarotto wrote:I also thought that the :21 - :23 section could have something else there other than it flying upwards, but that's just me.
As for more movement...I'm a little sketchy about that, mainly because I don't know if you're referring to the entire 30 seconds or some specific part of it. I probably didn't choose the most representative portion of the video to show you, but the part of the video before the portion I clipped out for this beta is pretty visually interesting in my opinion, and about halfway through the beta is where some sort of concept starts to appear, so I'm loathe to change too much. I'll consider finding some fitting effects, though.Greggus1 wrote:Seriously, you need more movement, whether you get it from effects or better clip selection. And I did my job and I´m surprised, that I´m not the only one with nearly the same critics:
First thought:
Hey wow he improved alot, that rocks!
Second thought:
Ok he improved, but not that much as I thoughted :/
The intro is the "waaaaahhhhhpoooooo! here I go again to watch a damn
coll action amv!!!" and than it slowed down... the effects where gone
and I thought: This time there is really missing something. The little
something that makes me want to review this amv. The special spice...
The intro gave me that spice, but it is simply gone.
It is not enought aggressive, powerful and maybe fast for me. Sry! It reminds
me too much of your older Rahxephon amvs (and the were pretty slow, but
the speed was ok for the old songs).
Uhm to the noise at the beginning:
I think, that in the final ressolution, the noise is too big, that means:
To pixelate. Maybe a slight blur would be nice for the noise. You are
working with Vegas so this is really no big deal for you.

Bauzi, seriously, you make me laugh. Maybe it's your English, maybe it's just the way you think, maybe it's a combination of both...I don't know, but you're a funny guy.
Thanks for the insight. I actually think that if I had included the five seconds before this portion of my video, the effects I used at the beginning would make more sense.
As it stands I've made all the changes I want to make. I took everyone's advice as much as I could, and I do think it's better now, so thanks everyone. Ideally the final product will be up by Wednesday, but if I don't finish it by then then it won't be up until sometime next week.
Thanks again for all your help; I think it's made quite a difference.
