Op Swap Shop :)

Post by Zero1 » Sun May 23, 2004 8:33 pm

Hey there, it's simple... Give me links to high quality serious AMVs (ones with footage such as Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam etc.) and I'll give you an honest unbiased opinion. A high quality, well edited DBZ vid or 2 is also welcome, see I'm unbiased 8)

There isn't any preference as to music, I like metal type stuff but living in England, there aren't many bands, so kudos to you if you get me hooked on a new band :)

Stuff I've listened to already are the likes of Evanescence, Godsmack, Linkin Park & Limp Bizkit. All well known commercial bands, so help me expand my taste :D

I've got a 960kbs download and a whole week off work, I'll be opping inbetween renders of my current vid in progress (Don't you just hate slow computers..pff)

In return, all I ask is you give a few minutes to watch and opinion my most recent video, which can be found here http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=38670

If you drop 2 or more vids for me to op, then help yourself and op one of my other videos as well, the linked one is using new software and codecs, so the old videos will most likely look lame in comparison

I have nothing better to do so I'll help you out. I'll download it now and op it in about an hour. My favorite show is on. "Who's Line is it Anyway?" Time to get more twisted ideas.

Here are a couple vids you can op:

Taking Control

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=21073

and

Fighting For Your Love:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=33238

At least one of your ops will be an extended op 700 + words or so.

Hope you enjoy.

I'll have your ops up by 12:30 am Eastern US time.

Sure I will. I give all vids a fair shot. Eventhough it is DBZ. I do stress on the action sync alot and if it has a message/meaning/story in it.

Yours will be up as well.

Righty, as far as I can see, everyone's opinions are up, if I've missed anyone let me know.

Great vids so far everyone, it was great watching them, and thanks for the opinions so far.

I think I've been fair, if there's something you disagree on, let me know.

Oh and Endless Pride? Thanks for the comment on the XviD codec, but I'm afraid I have to disagree lol.

The current version is XviD v 1.00 Final, I used the version before it which was XviD v 1.00 Release Candidate 4 (there were only a couple of playback bugs fixed in the Final verison I believe). So I don't really consider it outdated. I also ran some tests to see if the Final version was any better, under the settings I used, RC4 was better quality!

The XviD team said that RC4 was pretty much the same as the Final version 1.00 the only difference being some minor fixes to the Trellis quantization.

I am aware that sometimes DivX and XviD conflict, but if you install DivX first and then XviD after it works fine, the only problem I had was where DivX wanted priority and tried to play all my XviD files, after I installed XviD after it was fine.

I also believe that DivX 5.05 was better quality, I may be wrong, I don't use DivX that much though, XviD RC4 trumped DivX 5.05 and 5.11 in all the tests I done. (About 72 versions altogether)

I screendumped the same frame of each encode and analysed it in photoshop looking for the encode with the least noise and solid colours
